Message Board Fights / Re: The conference & the elevator
« Last post by FitOfficerWife on Yesterday at 10:54:32 PM »I flew into Chicago on the red eye this morning. God I hate this city. But this was a rare occasion where my husband and I could attend seminars for our respective businesses in the same place at the same time.
Pat had to go straight to his conference, so I am on my own to check us in and get settled. As I approach the reception desk, I notice a slim brunette checking in next to me. I immediately detect a foreign accent, but can't quite identify the origin. Apparently I stared a little too long, as I noticed her look over, look me up and down, and developed an instant look of arrogance. I think to myself, "bitch, please. I'd break you like a twig." I finish checking in and go up to the room.
I head off to my seminar. As I wonder during intermission, I keep seeing this woman in the halls and the lobby. Every time she seems to be staring daggers into me. What is this witch's problem?
The seminar concludes for rhe day. As I leave the banquet room, I look around, expecting to see her, but she's nowhere in sight. I head back to the room, shower and get dressed. I am supposed to meet Pat downstairs at the restaurant. I put on my form fitting gray dress and strap on my 4" stilettos..
The waiter ushers me to the table. I am only there a few minutes when I get a text from Pat. He's going to be delayed for a couple of hours. I am pissed. But at the same time, I understand that it's part of business. As I look up from my phone, I see her. There. Sitting at the bar with that same arrogant look on her face.
I walk over to the bar and pull up a chair, leaving one seat between us. I order a glass of white wine, and turn towards her, intending to strike up some conversation. But as I turn towards her, she spins in the chair and turns her back to me. "What the actual fuck?" Just another reason I hate this city.
I down my glass of wine, slam the glass on the bar, and head back to my room. As I wait for the elevator, I look over to where she was just sitting, but she's no longer there. I shrug it off and get into the elevator. The doors are almost closed when I see a hand thrust between them and her that unmistakable accent again, "Wait!"
