2022 was a strange year in catfights for me, there was highs and lows. Here are some of my thoughts on the year...
I'll start with the disappointments.
I really like Emma Ray, but I'm beginning to question if she's cursed... Her fight with Angel at Suitefights should hav been a classic, but was ruined by the whole nausea thing, and then her fight with Alexa basically heralded the end of Sexywife as a producer. I also can't understand why we didn't get a rematch of either fight. Maybe next year...
Another massive disappointment was the Vika vs Alexa Brooke fight, also at Suitefights. Now, I quite enjoyed the actual fight itself - as long as it lasted - but watching Alexa crumble before my eyes and then effectively disappear afterwards was a massive letdown. I'm hoping that her going AWOL has more to do with personal shit outside of catfighting, but Vika really had her number in a way which could well have completely broken her self belief.
Generally speaking, I'm quite a big fan of what Mexican Catfights are doing, especially anything involving Santana, and so the promise of her fight with Nikki was massive. Unfortunately that didn't come to pass this year either, although maybe it will in the new year.
Outside of continental America the fight at Slap City between Effy and Maria was good while it lasted, but it didn't last long. We then failed to get the much hyped rematch with neither woman fighting again since. The non-event at the same producer with Havoc was also a little disappointing.
Catzreview were very quiet this year, their fight with Havoc proving to be their only realease that I can recall.
I was also disappointed not to see more of Lora Cross, after being more competitive against Sarah Brooke last year than most girls manage, and also the general lack of competitive Sarah Brooke fights was also a bit of a let down.
Onto the positives
Nikki vs Bella was a highlight. I liked how it was pretty clear Bella had a wrestling advantage but Nikki didn't quit fighting or disappear like Alexa Brooke did after the Vika fight. I'd score the fight as it actually did take place a draw and would like to see a rematch with slightly altered rules in the new year.
I'd also really like to see Bella fight Vika, who was a definite highlight of the year too, for how she handled Alexa Brooke, her fight with Sunni and the way she interviews before and after all of her fights.
Sunni was also a bright light this year, although it's difficult to tell if she'll still have any real desire to continue competing after getting demolished by Chakira.
Outside of Suitefights, there wasn't much happening in the US, but elsewhere in the world, FightingDolls in the Czech republic has a promising new flock of girls coming through with Julia, Monet, Kemala and Amy starting to really establish themselves.
Looking into 2023, aside from what I've already mentioned above, it's encouraging to see Reagan stepping into the producing world with Kitty Klaws. I'd happily buy anything with Peyton in it and her fight with Payshunce showed some promise but the production values will need to increase, and hopefully will.
Slap City seems to be trying to fight the good fight, though the women he has managed to put in fights since the Effy vs Maria fight haven't really captured my interest too much, but hopefully that will change.
I'd like to see Tilly McReese produce a few more real fights, and maybe even get back in the fighting game herself.
If Mexiacn Catfights can get a few of the established American fighters across the border to challenge Santana and Valentin, that would be cool. Hopefully Catzreview gets back into their stride too.
I'd also love to see Alexa Brooke return, Sarah Brooke have some more competitive fights, and see Emma Ray conquer the catfighting curse she seems to have...
I'm sure I've missed a few fights - or indeed non-fights - so feel free to leave your own highs and lows below...
