1970s Sex Symbol Tournament Round 16 Set 2
« on: October 24, 2011, 10:32:17 PM »
{alt} {alt}
CHRISTIE BRINKLEY (Age: 25; 5'9" / 1st 15-0) vs JOANNA LUMLEY (Age: 33; 5'8" / 26th 2-13)
The overall leader continues her unbeaten quest for the title. Christie Brinkley doesn't think Joanna Lumley can spoil her perfect record so far and it would take a brave man to bet against that!

{alt} {alt}
CHERYL LADD (Age: 28; 5'4" / 4th 15-0) vs LINDA HARRISON (Age: 34; 5'6" / 14th 9-6)
Possibly the pin-up fight in this round. Cheryl Ladd still remains in the title mix and she's going to face a tough brunette Linda Harrison who promises to fight like a wild cavewoman she's risen to fame in the 70s. I don't think the experts will be even on this one as Cheryl (who has defeated Ornella Muti and Morgan Fairchild before) wants to keep her perfect record alive just like Brinkley.

{alt} {alt}
LESLEY-ANNE DOWN (Age: 25; 5'5" / 31st 1-14) vs CATHERINE BACH (Age: 25; 5'8" / 3rd 15-0)
Fresh off her maiden win over Barbi Benton, Lesley-Anne Down is back to fight with the powerhouse of the competition, Catherine Bach. It should tell whether Lesley has gained some confidence in that win as she'll be lucky to avoid the biggest beatdown misery at the hands of Catherine.

{alt} {alt}
DONNA MILLS (Age: 39; 5'4" / 30th 2-13) vs JULIE EGE (Age: 36; 5'5" / 29th 2-13)
Another fight that could go either way. Both Donna and Julie have two wins each and can move up the order in case of winning and most certainly the winner will move ahead of the loser. Donna thinks she'll leave Julie nude and bald after a very rough catfight but Julie believes Donna's hair are just made to be pulled out in chunks. These two can really fight for a long time and Donna who gives few years away to her rival might want to finish it off quicker than expected.

{alt} {alt}
JACQUELINE BISSET (Age: 35; 5'6.5" / 18th 6-9) vs MARGOT KIDDER (Age: 31; 5'6.5" / 32nd 1-14)
Two brunettes face off next. Jacqueline Bisset is stuck in midfield with her record but Margot Kidder has dropped to bottom of the rankings after Lesley-Anne's maiden victory last time around. She surely wants to move up and doesn't think Jacqueline is strong enough to prevent her from winning only her second fight of the tournament.

{alt} {alt}
INGRID STEEGER (Age: 32; 5'2" / 20th 5-10) vs EDINA RONAY (Age: 35; 5'4" / 19th 5-10)
Two lightweight cookies in another fight too-close-to-call. It could go down which woman in more vicious and aggressive as their records are even and neither has significant size and strenght advantage. It's also the old German-English rivalry on the table, they always tend to end ugly, but who will be the battered loser in this one?

{alt} {alt}
CAROL LYNLEY (Age: 37; 5'6" / 6th 14-1) vs SUSAN DENBERG (Age: 35; 5'7" / 7th 14-1)
I'm running out of numbers, but this one also should be a close affair, this time on the sharp end of the rankings. Both Carol and Susan have only lost once and know that another defeat will seriously dent their chances for the overall title. Susan is younger and taller, but Carol has been fighting like a woman possessed and can become downright evil sometimes. Will she tame the Austrian goddess to stay in the title hunt?

{alt} {alt}
MARTA KRISTEN (Age: 34; 5'4" / 13th 10-5) vs CYBILL SHEPHERD (Age: 29; 5'8" / 2nd 15-0)
It's not over until it's over and Cybill Shepherd rounds out this set as well as another blonde Marta Kristen who was given the battering of a lifetime against Catherine Bach recently. It remains to be seen whether Marta has shaken that defeat off, or has she caught a bad period in the schedule. Cybill promises to get done with her in no time, but beating Bach's 60 votes record will be tough to accomplish!

Some more close fights but I see only five of the eight fights as being really close. Some of the leaders will also not have it as easy as in the past. Cheryl Ladd will be the most challenged by Linda Harrison and will most likely lose in my estimation.

Christie Brinkley vs Joanna Lumley: This will be a good fight in spite of Christie Brinkley’s perfect record against Joanna Lumley’s poor record. At least it will be a better fight than the records would suggest. Christie will be challenged by Joanna for awhile but eventually Christie will wear her down and end up pounding the stuffing out of her. Joanna will use the fighting tactics she learned for The New Avengers. Christie will use her athletic prowess, strength, and fighting skills to repel the early attacks and tosses by Joanna to end up dominating the fight.

Cheryl Ladd vs Linda Harrison: Cheryl Ladd seems to heave a huge fan support that carries her to victory. She always seem to have the home team advantage. This can be discouraging to her opponents and either they don’t fight as hard or they make mistakes. Linda Harrison told me she is going to take the crowd out of the fight right away by totally dominating “the little blonde shit” as she calls Cheryl. Cheryl will use her speed and cunning to keep Linda off balance. But once Linda lands a powerful punch or gets Cheryl down the fight will be over. I see Linda being particularly nasty and cruel to Cheryl once she has her down to emphasize how much more a woman she is than Cheryl.

Lesley-Anne Down vs Catherine Bach: This will be the most lop sided fight of all the fights involving fighters who have not lost. Lesley-Anne Down is completely overmatched by Catherine Bach to start off with. Catherine sees that both Christie Brinkley and Cybill Shepherd have tougher opponents than she does at least in her opinion. She sees her chance to move ahead of Cybill and maybe even Christie by pulverizing Lesley-Anne. Look for Catherine to apply one punishing hold after another; to land hard punches and kicks; and do what is necessary to rack up the points. Lesley-Anne will have to be carted off on a gurney when Catherine is done with her.

Donna Mills vs Julie Ege: I lover a good catfight on a big bed filled with stain sheets and fluffy pillows. Donna Mills and Julie Ege have equal records that this is my second pick for  the closest fight. You can be sure Donna’s teddy and Julie’s outfit will be ripped to shreds before the fight is over. Donna has the more intense look in her eye that I think she wants the fight more. Wouldn’t be surprised if Donna somehow gets Julie under a huge pillow and then lies down on top of it to smother Julie out.
Jacqueline Bisset vs Margot Kidder: Jacqueline Bisset would probably dominate this fight over Margo Kidder except that Margo is in last place. It is a huge motivation to get out of last place and further motivated when fighting some one with a so-so record. Jacqueline can be very good , challenging the toughest opponents, or she can almost be a no show in her fights. Which one will show up this time? If it is the no show than Margot will win. If it is the very good fighter, then Jacqueline will demolish Margot. My guess is it will be somewhere in the middle with Margot’s motivation making this a close fight. Jacqueline will squeak out the win.

Ingrid Steeger vs Edina Ronay: Another very very close fight that could easily be a draw. Vassago has given us another fight with fighters of equal records. It will also be another all out, vicious catfight as neither has the size to dominate the other. I give the edge to Edina because she has psyched herself up by dressing as a cave woman. She goes into the fight with the attitude that she is barely removed from being a vicious animal. Her aggressiveness will be the advantage she needs to rip out most of Ingrid’s hair.

Carol Lynley vs Susan Denberg: Both fighters have a 14-1 record. Both have a chance at the title but a loss will greatly diminish their chances.  Take about motivation. Add the fact that I think the two women are jealous of each other and don’t like each other. Hang onto your jock straps or thongs for this fight. I think it will be the best fight as far as skill, desire, goes when combined with intensity and viciousness. It will be a close fight that could go either way until one of them takes control. Then she will brutalize her  opponent. I think the will be Carol but wouldn’t be surprised at the opposite result I pick Carol because I think she is naturally crueler and has the better stamina.

Marta Kristen vs Cybill Shepherd: The winner of the last fight will not be in doubt but it will be closer than Cybill Shepherd would like. Marta Kristen is a good enough fighter that she can make a contest of it. Cybill will want to demolish her to stay ahead of Catherine Bach and will get furious and frustrated when she cannot do this. The problem for Marta is that Cybill has the size over Marta and the strength and skill to make use of this size. A win fro Cybill but she will be disappointed she doesn’t win my more.

Joanna pulls off the upset of the round by putting Christie down. Cheryl has the best match of the round when she finally puts Linda out cold. Cybil just plain beats up Marta.

Once again the blondes come out on top in the few blonde vs non-blonde fights.

Christie Brinkley beats Joanna Lumley
the main interest here isn’t whether Christie will beat Joanna but by how much and will she exceed the amount Cybill Shepherd beats Marta Kristen by. That should go in Christie’s favor as Marta is a stronger opponent than Joanna is. I look for Christie to apply all sorts of leg locks and arm locks on Joanna to run up the score.

Cheryl Ladd beats Linda Harrison
It is difficult to go against the bigger brunette against the petite blonde but I am doing so. Linda is only a couple of inches taller than Cheryl although she probably has 10 to 20 pounds on her. Speed is the reason that Cheryl can confound and frustrate Linda. She has Linda chasing her until Linda runs out of gas. Then a kick between the legs from the not-as-sweet-as-she-seems Cheryl drops Linda to her knees to be followed by and elbow to the side of the head. KO by Cheryl in a surprising result.

Lesley-Anne Down beaten by Catherine Bach
While Christie Brinkley and Cybill Shepherd are fighting it out for the biggest beat down they are left in the dust by Catherine Bach. Catherine is in the same league as the other two and some would say even above their league. Lesley-Anne may be the weakest opponent in this tournament even if she claims Barbi Benton is weaker. If you want to see someone enjoying torturing her victim then watch what Catherine does to Lesley-Anne.

Donna Mills beats Julie Ege
A case can be made that Donna and Julie are right in there for the weakest fighter in the tournament. The blonde Donna is more of a spitfire than the redhead Julie. She ends up dragging Julie around by the hair in a fairly easy win for her.

Jacqueline Bisset beats Margot Kidder
The English lady with the French sounding name has little trouble in handling the bottom dwelling Margo. It will be a tough fight but I think Jacqueline has more mettle than Margo and will find a way to win.

Ingrid Steeger beats Fightertwo
The closest fight of this round between women with equal records and close in size. Edina is a little taller and I think a little heavier. Ingrid is a little faster and a slightly better fighter to balance it out. The winner will need some luck and so it could go either way if it isn’t a draw. I like the ending of Ingrid putting her thigh high boots on Ingrid’s biceps for a devastating schoolgirl pin.

Carol Lynley beaten by Susan Denberg
The August 1966 Playmate of the month shows she is more than just a pretty face and fantastic body. Of course Carol Lynley does not lack in those categories either. So it is a fight between two gorgeous babes who want to prove their superiority over the other. It will be a long, tough, glorious fight. I pic Susan because I think she has the greater stamina.

Marta Kristen beaten by Cybill Shepherd
Look out for Cybill will be on a terror to absolutely destroy Marta. Marta has a fairly good record so you might expect this to be a close fight. But then Cybill read barbosa’s comments “Marta Kristen wins Cybill Shepherd. Marta although much shorter and older than Cybill, proved stronger than her rival, who belongs in Cheryl’s Ladd category, and wins with a vicious double axe handle.” Cybill is on a mission to make barbosa eat his words. “They very idea that I am as weak as Cheryl Ladd and that Marta is stronger than I am is beyond belief. What has that guy been smoking? No wonder he picks some many losers as winners when he can’t see the truth right in front of his eyes!!!”

Only a few hours left. For those who haven't voted there is one fight with only a two point difference and two fighters battling for the biggest beat down as of this posting. There are some other close fights but you can definitely affect the outcomes of those two results.  :)

Some new pundits have joined the action and I must say I admire all you folks giving up these detailed comments. Thx very much all of you!

I usually don't give away any opinions on how the fights would or should have ended in my view (unless there's a really big mismatch which can be easily predicted at this stage of the tournament) but here goes (and I did get it wrong on few occassions):

Christie Brinkley (81) vs Joanna Lumley (32)
Easy win for the overall leader and only badAss and djcrash got lured by Joanna's alleged badass image. However Christie got beaten for the biggest blowout awarded by none other than her nemesis Cybill Shepherd by one single vote (second time that has happened).

Cheryl Ladd (60) vs Linda Harrison (52)
The pin-up fight delivered to it's promise, but despite the experts favoring Linda 4-3, it was Cheryl who kept her perfect record alive. I voted for Linda (guess Glamour Fights won't be surprised to hear that), but that didn't help. Huge win for the blondes over the brunettes!

Lesley-Anne Down (40) vs Catherine Bach (72)
Lesley's maiden win enabled her to find enough confidence to prevent Catherine from the biggest beatdown, but I guess the final result doesn't surprise anyone. Bach is still in the mix and might steal it all from Brinkley and Shepherd come the last round! Pundits; a no-brainer; 6-0 for Bach.

Donna Mills (67) vs Julie Ege (42)
I thought this will be a much closer fight even though Donna dispatched Ornella Muti before. However she really scratched poor Julie's eyes out and might dominate all the lower ranked women once she meets them later. The pundits also saw the evil Donna dominating this one and favored her 4-2.

Jacqueline Bisset (60) vs Margot Kidder (49)
Another 4-2 from the experts and Jacqueline proved superior against the bottom-rocked Margot but the 11 votes difference is nothing to write home about. Bisset is still stuck in mediocrity here, winning all the fights she's supposed to but not causing any upsets either.

Ingrid Steeger (47) vs Edina Ronay (63)
I had it decided by a whisker and the pundits were split at three each. However Edina Ronay stomped over Ingrid Steeger and scored a good win at the expense of equally skilled fighter.

Carol Lynley (53) vs Susan Denberg (51)
Another 3-3 verdict from the experts and the final score proved much more like it too. Carol indeed had the small edge on the badass factor (am I wrong to say that the word 'badass' has become very popular this round thanks to badAss?). Still, these two haven't done enough to convince barbosa who called them overrated. But we all know that barbosa has his standards set very high! Susan loses a spot to Morgan Fairchild in the overall rankings as a result of this loss.

Marta Kristen (29) vs Cybill Shepherd (79)
The biggest beatdown of the entire round comes in the very last fight and barbosa somehow managed to get it wrong (a hangover from the 0-8 picks in the other thread?). Cybill is still ranked second but right on Brinkley's bikini tails.
