‘Well, I’m not sure you’ll win any matches with those matches with those moves Hannah’ I teased over breakfast ‘but you can definitely get me with them anytime you fancy!’
‘Oh I will, don’t you worry Chris’ she replied smiling.
‘So how did you get into this?’ I asked the blonde warrior as I geared up for another day of people watching around the pool. ‘I mean, it’s hardly the standard way to make a living is it Hannah?’
‘I guess not’ she agreed ‘well to be honest, I had a bit of a background in Olympic wrestling when I was growing up but I wasn’t very good at sticking to the rules shall we say. Then I started an office job and found it wasn’t really for me, drifted along for a while then someone suggested this to me and I thought why not give it a go?’ Hannah continued ‘I was pretty badly prepared for my first match to be honest. I thought it was wrestling, not an all in fight and I was pitted against a more experienced Russian girl in Kos who gave me a bit of a lesson. I imagine that happens to quite a few girls in this to be honest; it’s tricky to understand the ferocity of the matches until you’ve seen one or been in one.’
‘I guess that must be true’ I agreed ‘I mean, just watching it on DVD it was clearly much fiercer that I expected. I imagine it’s even more so up close. You stuck at it though? I asked her
‘I don’t like to give up easily, so I just felt I had to give it at least one more go. That time I travelled to Fuerteventura and had a long match with a Swedish girl. They billed it as the battle of Scandinavia or something like that. She was primarily a wrestler too and we were well matched but I found a way to beat her and haven’t really looked back since’ Hannah told me.
We’d agreed to split up again for the day so that we could cover more ground down by the pool. I looked forward to attacking another day of people watching with a new purpose courtesy of the blonde Danish girl who I had already fallen for. My strategy was to get a position close to the pool but placed between the pool and the entrance to the hotel figuring that would mean the majority of people having to pass me by at some stage. Once again, I found myself focussing mainly on the German woman as the prime candidate to fight Hannah. That said, I was trying to keep an open mind about the British woman who I noticed looked pretty strong. I had doubts about her fitness though but wasn’t really sure how I could work out an answer to that. The good news for me was that during the ‘morning session’ at least no one else came on to my radar.
That all changed in the afternoon though when I noticed an impressively built Italian woman for the first time. She was almost a bodybuilder in physique, looking strong and incredibly fit so she was noted down so that I could compare notes with Hannah later on. Part of me thought that she was too obvious though; I wouldn’t have had Hannah down as a fighter until she told me, Even when she did, I wasn’t entirely convinced until I’d seen her in action. With the exception of the Italian woman, I didn’t really see anyone else that likely during the afternoon and when I met up with Hannah again in the evening, she had pretty much the same thoughts as me.
‘I spotted that Italian woman like you did Chris’ Hannah admitted to me ‘she looks the right type, but I think she’s too obvious to be my opponent for tomorrow night. I suspect she’s here trying to get a private match though; she’ll probably be at the fight tomorrow and might challenge one of us to a private rules match. Probably be whoever wins unless she has a particular thing for one of us I suppose’ Hannah said to me.
I was a little taken aback and asked her ‘Really? That kind of thing happens a lot does it?’
‘More than you’d think actually Chris. There are a fair number of women who follow the fights around to fix themselves up with some private opponents. Often they’re women who because of their jobs or other factors aren’t able to fight in public. Some of them are pretty good fighters to be honest’ Hannah told me before adding ‘if that’s what she’s up to, I’d fight her just for you if you’d like? I love to beat up body builders. They’re fun to break down, but usually I get there!’ she laughed.
‘I’d definitely like to see that match’ I agreed ‘she looks like she would be an interesting opponent for you?’ I asked her
‘She could be; I guess we’ll have to see how that plays out Chris’ Hannah said to me ‘I’ve got a few details for tomorrow night now as well’ she continued, ‘We’ll be picked up from here at about 7PM to be taken to the venue, but we are confined to the room after 6.30PM so we don’t see the other fighter leave either.’
‘Makes sense I suppose’ I agreed ‘would be a bit too silly to keep your identities from the each other and then pick you both up at the same time.’
‘Exactly’ Hannah said ‘the other thing I know at the moment if that the official doctor will visit me tomorrow morning. They make sure they check for any injuries or problems before the match. It’s normally a female Italian doctor that sees us here. She’s good and she might even give us a bit of information if we’re lucky. You should be here for that anyway Chris; it would make sense for you to meet the doctor as they might be in our corner at the fight as well.’
‘I will do Hannah’ I agreed ‘so what are your tactics for the fight depending on who you’re up against?’ I asked Hannah ‘would it help for you to go through them?’
‘It would be useful thanks Chris’ Hannah smiled ‘I know you’ve not seen me fight live before, but at least it will give me a chance to think out loud’ she said.
‘OK, we’ll start with the German redhead, I still think she’s the most likely opponent for you’ I suggested
‘Well I think she’s about my height, so no reach advantage. She’s probably 165-170lbs though so a decent weight advantage for her and that probably makes her more powerful than me’ Hannah mused. ‘I’d have to adopt some hit and run tactics when the fight was upright and then look to get her down when I was on top to negate her size advantage. Hopefully test out her stamina that way. The danger for me is getting pinned by her because she‘d be difficult to dislodge and she could do plenty of damage from there’ Hannah admitted.
‘Sounds like you have a plan for her’ I agreed ‘what do you make of the blonde British woman?’ I asked
‘She’s probably has a couple of inches on me and I would put her more towards 200lbs if I’m honest’ Hannah said. ‘Similar tactics to the German woman I guess, but I think her weight would probably work against her in the heat really. I’d look to run her around as much as possible, tire her out quickly and then work her over when her stamina went. The danger to me is similar to with the German woman; get pinned and she’s tough to shift to say the least. I’m not convinced she’s a fighter though; the fitness levels just don’t look like they’re there to me’ Hannah suggested looking to me for validation.
‘I tend to agree with you Hannah’ I agreed ‘she doesn’t look fit enough in hindsight; I’m tempted to say rule her out. You have a game plan for her anyway.’
‘Now if my opponent was the German woman’s daughter, that would be a different kind of fight’ Hannah suggested. ‘She looks similar in size and is probably pretty fit as well, so I don’t think outlasting her would be a great plan. I’d look to work on her body from the start, body punches and body scissors, anything I could do to take her breath away and sap her stamina. Then it would just be a case of working out what she couldn’t take and keep going back to that as often as possible. What do you think Chris?’ she asked me.
‘I actually think you might be able to bully her round a little bit as well Hannah’ I suggested ‘she looks like she would probably have stamina to burn but I don’t think she’d be as strong as you are.’
‘You might be right actually’ Hannah admitted ‘I hadn’t really thought of it that way. I’m not used to being in there with someone I can overpower to be honest, it doesn’t happen very often to me’ she laughed.
‘How about that bodybuilder from this afternoon?’ I asked ‘how would you cope with her?’
‘Bodybuilders are always fun’ Hannah told me with a glint in her eye ‘there’s two kinds really; those that think pretty muscles are all they need and those that actually know what to do with them. The ones who think muscles are all they need are the most fun; I let them throw me around a bit normally until those muscles start to tie up from the effort, then I take over and have my fun with them’ she laughed. ‘The other kind are a more serious proposition’ she admitted. ‘Part of the fun is that you don’t really know what kind you’re getting until the match starts but if they are skilled fighters as well, I tend to fight at my dirtiest against them. I’ll use nails, fists, teeth, elbows; anything really until I start to break them down’ Hannah smiled.
‘I think that’s a fight I’d enjoy Hannah!’ I told her
‘Oh you would, believe me’ Hannah agreed ‘I can be quite a bad girl when I need to be....’
‘Of course’ Hannah continued ‘the real fun of this setup is that you can never really prepare for your opponent fully. You don’t know who they are so you never find yourself with only one possibility in mind. More importantly, even if you think you’ve narrowed it down, you don’t know what your opponent’s skills are either.’
‘I see the challenge it presents’ I agreed ‘you could be up against a boxer, a martial artist, wrestler even a street fighter?’ I asked Hannah.
‘Or a combination of more than one skill’ Hannah agreed ‘it all adds to the fun...’ the blonde fighter laughed. ‘Now here’s an idea for you Chris. Go and pack your stuff and bring it down here. I think you can stay here for the night can’t you?’ she asked. Seeing no complaints from me on that idea, she continued ‘you need to be here when the doctor comes anyway so it makes sense, I’m sure I can find something to entertain you in the meantime’ she said.
I didn’t need much encouragement to go and throw my stuff into my case, and when I arrived back at Hannah’s room, I found that the entertainment she had in mind involved me watching through another fight with her. ‘I know that this got you.....well, shall we say ‘ready’ for what I have in mind later on’ Hannah smiled at me suggestively. ‘This is a match between two women who I have beaten; given the whole secrecy around opponents, there’s no way that I’d fight them again in SFC, so they were happy to let me have the video’ she continued as she snuggled in next to me on the sofa. ‘Let me give you a bit of background on these two first’ Hannah said ‘they’re the two women i fought in my third and fourth matches. I beat them both in about half an hour, both times by a total submission of the match. The blonde is a Dutch woman, Laura Van Huijsen; she’s tall, a stand up boxer mainly but she can mix styles if needed. The dark haired woman is Inez Calderon; she’s older, more of a street fighter and catfighter, less skilled but probably a little more inventive. I think they thought they’d match up well having seen them fight me.’
‘I guess they were right?’ I asked Hannah as she got up to start the DVD ‘I mean, I figure you wouldn’t show it to me if it wasn’t a good match right Hannah?’
‘It’s a pretty good fight’ Hannah agreed ‘not the longest match but it’s a good one. It’ll help you out as well; it all gives you more idea what to expect tomorrow.’
My attention was drawn to the screen and what appeared to be a normal wrestling ring which already held the two combatants. Laura was introduced first; tall, slender but with clear muscle definition, Laura was 6 feet tall, 154lbs and a relatively flat chested 36A-26-35. The 25 year olds fight record was 6 wins and 2 losses. She let her robe fall from her shoulders to reveal that she was fighting naked apart from a pair of white MMA gloves.
‘This was in Kos’ Hannah told me ‘nude fights are there normal matches there’
Now Inez was introduced, heavier set and shorter, the well tanned Spaniard had a stocky, strong looking physique. 5 feet 7 inches tall she also weighed in at 154lbs. That was where the similarities ended as Inez was a curvy woman measuring 38DD-27-40 and the 40 year old was a more experienced fighter with 22 wins and 9 defeats on her record. She too was fighting naked with black MMA gloves, a close up on which also revealed some nasty, sharp looking finger nails.
‘Silly question, but are nails like that allowed? I asked Hannah
‘Normally’ she replied, flashing me her own set of claws ‘It always depends on the fight rules and also a bit of personal preference. You’ll notice in this that the Dutch girl has much shorter nails. I’d always rather have them in a fight if I’m allowed to rather than give an opponent that advantage’ Hannah admitted.
The action started with the taller Dutch girl using her reach advantage and apparent boxing skills to keep her Spanish opponent at range while she reddened her face with stiff jabs. A slashing blow across the stomach saw Inez’s nails raise some red tracks across Laura’s stomach, putting her onto the back foot as the Spaniard forced her to the ropes behind some hard looking body punches. However as the Spaniard wailed away, it was clear those punched were having a limited impact. ‘See how she took the punches on her arms?’ Hannah asked me as I nodded in reply. ‘Lets her allow her opponent to tire herself a bit’ she told me as Laura sprung back into life with a two punch combination that dropped Inez to a knee.
The Spaniard was next to strike though, a straight punch catching Laura in the pit of the stomach before a second went lower, catching the Dutch girl in the crotch as she looked to back away. Now Laura dropped to the mat and it was Inez’s turn to go on the attack again, pinning her tall opponent down and instantly sinking those sharp nails into her breasts drawing some cries of pain from the Dutch fighter who responded with two short punches to the side of her Spanish tormentors face. Inez responded, digging an elbow into the pit of Laura’s stomach before returning to her breast claw attack and pretty quickly, Laura was tapping the mat to signal her submission.
‘That was how I worked that Dutch bitch over as well’ Hannah told me ‘she had small tits but they were obviously pretty sensitive and she just couldn’t handle it’ she smiled wickedly.
‘Am I right in thinking that she didn’t have to let her up there Hannah?’ I asked
‘That’s right Chris’ she agreed ‘she could have pressed on for the total submission right there. Probably was a match where there was a pay per minute clause in the purse though I guess so she wouldn’t want the win inside three minutes’
The second part of the match once again started with some effective long range work from Laura working behind a long, stiff jab which seemed to find Inez’s face and body with unerring accuracy. Inez looked to reply with her nails again but Laura was light on her feet, skipping in and out of range as she systematically worked the Spaniard into the corner. A two punch combo to the body saw Inez anticipating a follow up to the head, but as she raised her hands to guard against that, Laura caught her with a hard knee to the body that saw the Spaniard crumple a little in the corner. Another knee lift went to her chest before Laura demonstrated some wrestling skill with a body slam. A kick to the ribs of the stocky Spanish woman drew a groan of pain before Laura delivered a hard elbow across the back of her neck and the sensing Inez was dazed, she clamped on a sleeper hold forcing a quick concession of the equalising submission. The tall blonde also released the hold opting to take the break rather than the quick victory that seemed to be on offer.
‘You’re right’ Hannah said seeing the quizzical look n my face and answering the question before I asked it. ‘She probably could have had her there if she’d kept it locked on. They structure the pay cleverly though to try and get a longer fight for their money and it works to be fair!’
‘Clever’ I agreed ‘but I guess with the money that’s going in, they like to make sure they get their money’s worth?’ I asked
‘Exactly that’ Hannah agreed with me ‘at least, I assumed that was why they did it. Sometimes the structure offers a bonus for a quick win, sometimes for using certain moves. Always with the intention of making the match as good as they can though’
The third fall of the match got underway and once again the taller Dutch fighter was able to dominate the early exchanges behind her long reach as she again planted stiff jabs in her opponent’s face. This time she quickly forced Inez back to the ropes where two hooks slammed into the Spanish woman’s left hand side, quickly dropping her to her knees. A further punch put Inez down to the canvas; Laura stepped back to allow a referee in to start a count at that point.
‘That was probably a mistake by the Dutch girl’ Hannah confided in me ‘she could have stayed on her a bit longer before asking the referee to count’
Inez beat the count pretty easily, rising about halfway through the count of fifteen. It was pretty clear to me that there were also no rules regarding allowing an opponent to rise as she was instantly clamped in a front headlock before the Dutch girl’s knee caught her flush in the pit of her stomach. The Spaniards knees buckled slightly but the headlock was enough to hold her upright for Laura to follow up with another hook into the left hand side of her opponent’s rib cage. I thought that Inez had been dropped to her knees again by that one, but the fact that she instantly fired back with an uppercut to the body made me wonder. Laura clearly sensed another punch coming as she turned the headlock loose, just backing away in time to avoid a second uppercut.
Another jab to the face greeted Inez as she got back to her feet and her statuesque Dutch foe seemed to have got back on track as she flicked long, straight punches at her Spanish opponent.
‘See how the Spanish girl is blocking most of these punches again with her arms?’ Hannah asked me ‘It was a good tactic for her here because she knew Laura liked to throw punches.’
An odd punch still found its target well enough, but as the steam went out of Laura’s punching a little, Inez pressed forward, walking through a weak looking jab to deliver a shorter punch of her own, snapping a right hand into the body. As that punch took its toll, a nail rake across the body drew a shriek from the Dutch girl before a second short punch crashed off her jaw to send her staggering back into the ropes. The Spaniard was clearly keen to get the match down the ground though rather than trade punches with the long limbed Dutch girl. A monkey flip did that for her sending Laura crashing hard to the mat and from there it was Inez’s turn to dominate proceedings now. She quickly rolled on top of Laura, managing to trap one of her arms so that she could instantly go after the sensitive breasts of the Dutch fighter once more.
The nails quickly drew some howls of pain from Laura who, unable to use her arms to defend herself resorted to sinking her teeth into Inez’s forearm. A backhand to the face put paid to that, dropping the Dutch girl back to the mat and it was then that the Spanish woman looked to finish the match. Switching to a reverse pinning position, she got two fingers into Laura’s pussy before inserting her thumb straight up her arsehole. Even with the volume low on the TV it was clear to see the intensity of the Dutch fighters screams as she was quickly forced to submit. There was no release this time though; Laura was trapped and tearful by the end of her ordeal at the sharp nails of the Spanish wildcat.
‘I believe she calls that the Spanish Inquisition’ Hannah told me ‘It’s pretty effective as well, I’ve had it done to me before and used it occasionally’ she continued ‘rarely fails to have the desired effect.
‘I can imagine!’ I agreed ‘that was a pretty brutal match but fairly short?’ I asked
‘Yeah, it was relatively short as SFC matches go normally’ Hannah agreed ‘well at least as my matches usually go anyway’ she corrected herself
We ran through a brief plan of action for the following day; largely a visit from the doctor followed by a last bit of people watching just to cover any last minute possibilities for opponents. Then it would be rest for Hannah in the afternoon before we would be spirited away to whatever venue Hannah would be fighting in later in the evening.....
