Chorus Dancers
« on: March 29, 2018, 04:16:00 PM »
Many years ago an actress friend of mine had been in a touring production of Cinderella. She was innocently telling me that between a matinee  and evening performance she had left the theatre to get food. On returning she learnt that two dancers  had fought in the dressing room.  Trying to hide my excitement at this revelation I tried to question her about the exact details, how long did it last, did the other girls encourage them, were they in a state of undress? Like me, you will have to imagine as these questions couldnt be answered.
In the old days of variety shows a group of eight, sixteen or more ladies sharing a dressing room week after week wouldnt be uncommon.  The competitive nature of dancers, and the cramped conditions, they would definitely get in each other way and even accidental bumping and nudging butt to butt or even breast against breast as they changed costumes maybe created tensions.
The days of the big variety shows and indeed the fight I heard of, took place before everyone could record on personal phones.  The only similar situation fights I have found on the net are between strippers.  These seem to be a normal event. As two ladies battle it out, usually in a near naked state, the other strippers sit back and enjoy it. Even some men who seem to be management rarely interfere  if its a good even scrap.
if only dressing rooms could talk.

Harmony on stage could turn to rivalry in the dressing room.
