I just ran across this.  Don't know how I missed it all those years ago, but I think that most of us men here will find it interesting.  I hope the link works.

Thanks Bear, I’m also shocked I never saw this. I wasn’t a huge fan of Sally   But I watched sometimes. I thought it was gonna end up with the girlfriend fighting. She deserved a bust in the mouth

Great find. There is another discussion show about catfights on youtube called 'Chatspot This is why women get into cat fights' you may find of interest, though it's not as good as this one.

What I find "dated" is the audience reaction.  Granted the audience is nearly all female and women who considered themselves fully liberated, so I guess their repugnance shouldn't be such a surprise.  However, sexual fetishes are not, and were not then, anything unusual,  Apparently these women never considered (why would they?) that all of the movie catfights, mudwrestling shows and women's pro wrestling had a sexual impact on men.  In an era that was promoting tolerance,  I find it quite ironic to witness such intolerance, not to mention the demeaning of the two participants by their "fellow sisters."  I wonder how many members of the audience went home and asked their husbands if this kind of stuff turned them on.  I wonder how many got honest answers.

I have to give the two men credit for coming out on this issue.  Talk about walking into the liions' den.  I have done everything that I could to keep my interest a secret for the very reason that you see on screen.  I would have loved for some man to stand up from the audience and challenge all the women that their biggest aversion to this is that they're jealous that some other woman is exciting their man.  One can only imagine the reaction that would have elicited.

Anyway thanks for  all of the likes and the comments.

Amplifying this. While I agree with the entire post, this was the powerful part.

I kept it secret for a long time, too. When I stopped, I had some negativity heaped on me. But I also had some positivity, and I found partners who were okay with fighting. If I focus on the negative moments, it's embarrassing. On the whole, being more open was a good thing. I feel your pain. It's tough.

Thanks Dave.  But I don't have any pain anymore..  My wife knows and has accepted it, so all is OK.  But I was a teacher.  Can you imagine what could have happened if I had been a guest on Sally's show?

Yah... that was definitely a hostile audience.  The courage of the guys was a bit shocking actually.  I did halfway expect the girlfriend was a shill and eventually was going to be battling the wrestlers.  I guess that is because I watched more Jerry Springer than Sally.  If I remember right, Sally was much more about tearing down anything that was male.  Bad Bosses.  Bad Boyfriends.  Bad Husbands.  A pretty constant theme back then.  I think back then this was a really racy topic.  Now after 20+ years of the internet... not nearly as exciting.  But I know a lot of wives have a very similar reaction today.  And if you were a teacher, I think admitting any fetish of any kind (except the approved ones... gay, bi, transgender, etc.) would land you in a heap of trouble.
I love catfights and chatting.  Look me up on trillian at ljack66   (I think... just figuring Trillian out)   https://www.deviantart.com/ljack66

Bear, I do remember that episode, but for the life of me, I can't remember why I saw it back then.  I didn't watch her show, and I don't recall my wife watching it either.  It may have been advertised on TV prior to it's airing, so I tuned in.  I just don't know.

I think the audience reaction was interesting.  But I do have to say, from my own personal experience when my wife found out I liked watching catfights, it was a pretty uncomfortable topic to be faced with.  My wife didn't object to me watching girls fight because it degraded women, rather she was upset that I got turned on by something like that.  I guess it made her feel inadequate.  I explained to her that it had nothing to do with her at all, and I had enjoyed watching catfights since I was a kid, long before we ever met.  We got through it, but from then on, I never mentioned it and just kept it to myself.

I thought one of the guys made a good point though about the women in the audience being hypocritical.  A lot of the adult women I've known in my life seem to enjoy watching male strippers...Chippendales dancers, etc.  I can't help but wonder how many women in that audience who complained about girls wrestling, had gone to or would go to see male strippers?  We all have our turn on's in life.
