Movie catfight alert
« on: June 03, 2022, 11:37:32 PM »
For those of you in the US who get the cable channel INSP, the western movie Destry will be airing tonite at 8:00 pm EST.  There is a rousing saloon catfight in Destry between Mari Blanchard and Mary Wickes.  I think this fight is every bit as good as the one between Una Merckle and Marlene Detrich that took place in Destry Rides Again.

I haven't seen this movie on TV, so I hope the fight isn't cut out for more ads.

Enjoy!

Wow.  Must have been at least 30 years since this last aired on TV.  I recorded it and still have it.  The very thought of cutting out this masterpiece of a fight is .............................disgusting.  It's vital to the plot, just as was the fight in the original (Destry Rides Again) and the other remake (Frenchie).

You can also catch it on Youtube.  As good as this fight is, IMO it doesn't quite equal the Dietrich / Merkel scrap.

Bear, I definitely agree with you, the Destry Rides Again fight is better than the one in Destry, although the Destry fight is pretty good.  I watched the fight after I sent my initial message out.  I guess my memory is a bit faulty.  I seem to remember the fight lasting longer than it actually did.

I wish more recent movie and tv catfights were like the good old hair pulling, rolling over and over fights like that.  It seems like the more recent fights are more martial arts than hair pulling fights.
