Help finding a story

I hope everyone's week is off to a good start.

I am trying to locate a story, I think written in the past years, and would appreciate any help.

The story is a about a young woman who has been training for a NHB style match.  She has a trainer and she has learned much from her. The trainer feels that she has taught her all she can, but thinks she needs to have a private NHB match to get the feel of the experience.  Another of the trainer's clients, more advanced in NHB skills is selected to be her opponent.

The novice fighter is while, her opponent is black, and either is a policewoman, or an army vet who was the top fighter in those contests.  The fight takes place in the novice's loft appartment. It is a brutal battle, blood is spilled and it is a very close match.  The outcome is the black woman wins, but is a not a walk in the park.

Both women wind up respecting each other. Not friends but frenemies.

I cannot recall where I saw the story or the authors name.
