Highlights:
Before I make general comments I must address the winner of the tournament. Elke Sommer won the tournament by the rules I established at the beginning of the tournament. She and Ann-Margret Olssen ended up with identical number of points (from won/loss/tied record which were identical) but Elke won the vote difference by quite a few votes. This is counterbalanced by the fact that Ann-Margret won the head to head competition over Elke by 3 votes (48:45). There have also been charges of favoritism and impartiality on my part even though I have tried to avoid even the appearance of impropriety. Thus I have not declared the winner yet. Instead I will be setting up a poll to see what the members think is fair. The options would be to declare Elke the winner (base on tournament rules), declare Ann-Margret the winner (based on head to head competition), declare them as co-champions, have a title fight between Elke and Ann-Margret with a winner take all, or anything else I can think of or you may suggest. I have talked to both ladies, tboth wearing black leathers. (Remember Ann-Margret starred in a biker flick C.C. and Company with Joe Namath.) Both were very gracious while also being somewhat catty towards their rival.
GF: Elke, how do you feel abut a run off with you fighting Ann-Margret once again to determine the winner.
Elke: I know I have the satisfaction of having won the tournament after over a year of fighting by the rules set down. However I know my victory is tainted since that red headed bitch beat me in our fight. She is a good fighter and thus my title would always be tainted. To get complete satisfaction I wouldn’t mind, nay, would look forward to beating her fat ass. She only won by a narrow margin last time and if you compare our last few opponents you will see I had a lot tougher fighters than the creampuffs she had. I am confident that I will royally kick her fat ass if I fight her again. Keep in mind I just had a tough fight with Sybil Danning while she had trouble beating that pansy waist Farrah Fawcett so I would like a little time to recuperate.
GF: Ann-Margret, how do you feel abut a run off with you fighting Ann-Margret once again to determine the winner.
Ann-Margret: Do I look stupid to you? You’ve been associating with too many blondes and it has addled your mind. Of course I want the chance to beat the air-headed blonde for the championship. It should be mine as I beat her once and will do so again, only worse this time. But rules are rules and so if you declare her the winner I can accept that. Elke has proven to be a good fighter, better than many have suggested. That doesn’t mean I won’t corner her and beat the shit out of her again just for my satisfaction and to show your champ is a loser. As for our opponents before our last fight I see she is calling Jill St. John (another redhead I might add) a creampuff. I would remind Elke that I beat Jill by a lot more than she did. In fact she struggled to beat Jill. Also Jill finished way ahead of Joey Heatherton who Elke faced just before me. Furthermore Jill beat Joey so that shows which opponent was tougher. Finally I see Elke is already making excuses for when she loses, claiming she needs some rest.
Elke: I am not making excuses but just want a fair fight. I barely lost to Sybil and Ann-Margret beat her by only 1 point. Then Ann-Margret lost to Senta Berger and claimed it was because of the beating she took from Sybil in eking out her win. I remind her that I beat Senta convincingly. Furthermore Diane McBain is a lot tougher than Annette Funicello and if you go back further you can compare the quality of our foes before Ann-Margret and I met. When we are both are our physical peak I will dominate her.
Ann-Margret: Say what you want about our opponents before we fought, the truth is I beat Elke and will beat her again. Yes, if we fight again we should be both at our physical peak so she can’t find another excuse for losing – which she will.
I would like to thank (in order of appearance) Vassago, Blogger348, djcrash, barbosa, byline, Mindcastle, realisticman, and simon1 for their predictions and comments. They continual discussion by them and others (who I also thank) keep the fights alive and the voting lively. Thanks also to all those who voted in this round and for earlier rounds. These fights were left open for a month and a record number of votes occurred. This is the last set of fights for the tournament and there were many fights worthy of the last fights as some women went all out and must have been completely exhausted at the end. I doubt if they could have had another fight soon. There were six fights, three in each set, that were within one or two votes with the winner being decided by the last few votes as the fights went back and forth. There were also some blow outs as expected and perhaps as not expected. And there were some unexpected winners, at least unexpected by me.
Barbosa claims this forum is dominated in favor of the blondes and that may well be true. But in this last rounds the blondes did not fair too well in the very close fights – unless they were facing other blondes. In the two redhead vs blonde fights that went down to the wire the redheads came out on top. The blondes didn’t win any of the close fights unless you consider Barbara Bach a blonde as barbosa does (no discussion allowed). Even so I managed to get a lot of red hair, blonde hair, and brunette hair for my business and lots of women who now need wigs.
More comments will be made in reviewing the individual fights.
Changes in position:
Elke Sommer remained ahead of Ann-Margret Olssen but Ann-Margret tied her in total number of points (from won/lost/draw). Elke lost to Sybil Danning and Ann-Margret beat Farrah Fawcett. Senta Berber beat Raquel Welch (much to Mindcastle’s consternation) to exchange positions with Linda Evans who barely lost to Jill St. John. They ended up in 5th and 6th places respectively. Sybil Danning remained tied in points (at 54) with Jill St. John but her record beating of Jaclyn Smith gave her a big vote difference win over Jill. Joey Heatherton barely beat Loni Anderson to switch positions to Raquel Welch who lost to Senta Berger. They ended up in 9th and 10th positions respectively. Loni Anderson’s close loss to Joey dropped her below Luciana Paluzzi who won a squeaker over Suzanne Somers. Tuesday Weld failed to move ahead of Sharon Tate even though Tuesday beat up Stefanie Powers badly. Sharon had a remarkable and perhaps surprising win over Martine Beswick. But Tuesday did finish in the top 16 which really pissed of Diane McBain. Dina was so angry she gave Goldie Hawn the worst beatdown this round. Dian Parkinson moved from 21st to 19th as she easily beat Cathy Lee Crosby. She moved ahead of Suzanne Somers who lost by a red cxnt hair to Luciana Paluzzi and Victoria Principal who was upset by Annette Funicello. Yes, I called this an upset. Annette Funicello rubbed it into Britt Ekland that she switched positions with her moving into 24th place. Annette beat Victoria as noted and Britt lost at the last few seconds to Adrienne Barbeau.
