HB...comparing it to clique wars I think is irrelavent. That is fantasy, this is real world.

I stand behind her decision, as I believe that a man should be able to protect his family and for him to lose lke that would definitely turn me off him. Now remember, we are talking about a relationship i its infancy. If this happened to my hubby of 16 years, I'm sure I'd feel different.

And as far as if this happened to her instead of him...well, right, wrong, or indifferent, we have differwnt expectations for our ability to fight.

You are right, it is different, yes.  And even worse if it happened in real life, leaving someone battered and bleeding on the street.   Then again, let's go back to the beginning of the thread, and guys, as the original post stipulates, this isn't really a discussion for us.   I think the thread got hijacked a bit by a few guys and needs to get back on course,  ladies only, as requested .

The question was posed for a specific reason and asked to a specific audience.  So, lets get it back to the original discussion, and as she requested,  it'd be nice for just the girls to answer.   Now anyone is free to post as always but, she did want specific feedback.

You know this 'ability to protect his family' excuse is horseshit. I expect that macho crap from a man. Protecting your family is keeping a job. protecting your family is staying out of jail, protecting your family is avoiding getting yourself killed in some meaningless brawl to show off how tough you are. i grew up with mean SOB's for family and friends, but I sure as hell would not want to date them.  And I am a person who has received death threats and attacks in my life, but I still don't feel a need to place 'ability to fend of attacks' as a dating criteria.

This isn't an action movie where you will be attacked every week.. My grandfather had a saying " If a woman needs a man to fight to protect her all the time, she needs a pimp, not a husband." Words to live by gentlemen (in whatever form you are reading this thread)

I find it far more disturbing that your date is being beaten half to death on the street and some people's reaction is "Oh I hope no one sees me with HIM. How embarassing. " Hopefully if the tables are turned your man goes "Wow better leave that bitch to die so i can get home in time to watch baseball. "

Ok, it wasn't floyd or any other trained fighter, nor did the date try to avoid the fight. We can what if this to death, but that fact remains that the date was immature enough to get into this brawl and got his ass kicked. And no, he wasn't left alone bleeding in a back alley, it was in a public place, wth others around.
Don't hate me just because I'm hot,  hate me because I'm hot and beat your ass!

Oh that makes it SOOOOO much better lol.

So now I am getting conflicting reports. Who picked the fight? Seems the story is ever changing. from some jerk picks fight, date gets beat up to date picks fight, date gets beat up.  Oh and now we know the other guy wasn't a trained fighter?

You think a guy getting beat up makes him a loser but you also think he should have done more to avoid the fight?
I get the feeling if he had avoided the fight this thread would be about how this guy wasn't a real man and defended his girl's honor at a bar.

Quote from: Vicky_35
As in most fights, at first it was an even exchange, but my friend's date went down and proceeded to get his ass kicked. My friend left the bar, alone. She called me to come get her. She later admitted to me that it did kinda turn her off of her date that he got his ass kicked like that, but moreso, the fact that he was so quick to get into this fight on their date in the first place.

The question I had was whether the women here agreed that she did the right thing or if they would have reacted differently. Please don't twist the content.

A relationship isn't dependent on some survival of the fittest pecking order, the only surprising aspect of the story is that your friend didn't leave with the fellow who kicked her dates ass......given her moral and ethical compass.

Now you mention that losing the fight wasn't the issue.....it was getting into the fight in the first place.

I take it then that had the date "kicked the other fellows ass" she still would have left him there and called you to pick her up and If THAT is the case, then she did the right thing......given her moral and ethical compass.

So which is it?

I have a few questions,

Is the fight close?

If not, was he humiliated?

Is the other guy as cute or cuter?

Did the other guy have freinds there? Was it a true one on one fight, or did people jump in to help when needed?  Did he do good at the srart at all?

Let's he got his ass kicked to the point he was laying there, quit fighting back, and was repeatedly asking the other guy to stop. As for as looks, I'll say they were equally cute in different ways.
