Braveheart
« on: September 06, 2015, 06:04:01 AM »
Tonight I found out that my good friend Gary (Braveheart1 to you all) has passed away.

He dropped off the grid a week or so ago, and several of us did our best to contact him to see if he was ok.  I discovered tonight through his Mom, that he has passed away.  She couldn't contact him and called his local police.  They found him deceased in his home.  I don't have any more details than that.  I'll post them if and when I can.

He was a great contributor to this site and to mine.  He's been an asset to us all and a very good friend to me, and he'll be sorely missed.  I'm posting this slowly because I'm crying.

I, too, am very shocked to hear this; and I'm also crying as I write this.

Gary had an incredible talent for writing; but more than that, he would go out of his way to encourage, assist, and guide so many other writers. He gave his time so readily, and fully - I for one will never forget him.

RIP Gary

In Memory of a great writer, and an even greater man, I would like to propose a living Memorial in the name of Garry/Braveheart.

To that end, all of us, myself included, who consider our writing efforts to be Good.... Bad...Indifferent....or anything else in between, should complete any of our works currently "in progress", and publish them as soon as possible.

Should anyone doubt their abilities, I would just say....there are many great writers on FCF who would....just like Garry did....offer help, advice or encouragement...to you.

So, please, do not hold back...your writing efforts may not be as bad as you think. Let's get them published.

I know that Garry would be delighted.

To say Gary and I were friends would be an understatement...our friendship transcended even here...and for that I am eternally grateful.  I am also grateful for the love and support he always showed me.  He made sure I never stopped writing and posting...and above all staying positive...and for that I owe him a debt that I hope I paid him in his time here.  He was a teascher...a confidant....a great friend....

I have no words for the pain I feel right now...the loss I feel is immeasurable...I'm beside myself...

Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass; it’s about learning to dance in the rain...or so I'm told.  I feel like I am in a torrential downpour right now...

I think the most authentic thing about us is our capacity to create, to overcome, to endure, to transform, to love and to be greater than our suffering.  I pray now that is true...

Some say that you are too painful to remember Gary, I say you are too precious to forget...

He and I both thought of and talked of the sea a lot...so I'll simply say...

Fair Winds and Following Seas...

Goodbye Gary...my dear and lovely friend...and much more...

Wow. I can't say I was really a friend, but I recall Braveheart being there encouraging new writers and commenting on their stories. He was also a very prolific writer and it's a shame to see such a productive member of the forum go.

RIP Gary.
