The closest fight in this group. Jane has been inconsistent but the toughest, most determined Jane showed up for this fight. After romping through her first 5 fights, Kim had two tough fights against Jayne Mansfield and Gina Lollobrigida. She looked tired for this fight. Jane’s strategy of speed and high kicks to Kim’s head worked well as she nailed Kim several times sending her down. Kim kept getting back up and using her slower, methodical approach to punish Jane. The fight went on for hours with the advantage going back and forth. The two were exhausted at the end. They both collapsed. Kim called upon her super will and determination to get a headlock on Jane and force her to succumb. Jane remarked later, “My gawd! Kim has some biceps that crushed my head! Watch out for her left hand!”

But once Ms. Dors got in close and used her vicious scratching, hair pulling and biting Ms. Rigg had not answer. In this case catfighting proved superior to martial arts.

Another fight with a better catfighter against a bigger, stronger athletic woman. However the physical difference is not as great as one might think. Esther has lost a lot of her muscle and stamina since leading the good life of an actress. Besides, studios don’t like their actresses with too big muscles. Stella is not the soft sex symbol she appears to be. Esther is not the first woman to be surprised by the very aggressive and skilled catfighter in Stella. Esther found out too late that Stella is the real deal when it comes to catfighting.

A vicious catfight with Mamie fighting for the honor of blondes and Ava fighting for the honor of brunettes. Ava fighting for older women and Mamie fighting for younger women. The young blonde got the best of the older brunette. Blonde and brunette hair was everywhere as the two tossed each other around. Scratch marks covered their bodies. Mamie’s energy proved to be the difference and she eventually tired Ava out to take command.

Rita was tired of being the door mat for other fighters. She just had been unlucky in some fights. And she had fought the tough, very nasty Gina Lollobrigida to a draw. Barbara was flying high. She had won all her fights, something she was very proud of being not even 5’4” tall. She was looking forward to an easy fight with Rita. By agreement they decided to have a bitch slap off. They started out with rather soft face slaps. The slaps got harder as they went along. Soon both were throwing wide, arcing slaps that turned the others head. It was a good contest for Rita. Her longer reach gave her just a little bit more wallop to her slaps. And it wasn’t so aerobic that her age was a deterrent. Both wore the other down. After more than an hour a slap would result in buckling knees. Then with the slapped woman would drop to her knees and struggle to get up. The last blow by Rita sent Barbara down and she couldn’t get up. Barbara claimed that the ‘sweet’ Rita had closed her fist and punched her instead. Rita said it was just sour grapes. But photos of the fight showed Barbara was correct. Hey, it was a catfight after all and the red headed beauty turned out to be nastier than she looked and she outsmarted the blonde sweetheart.

I have held off giving my view of these fights hoping some others would make comments. I will give my views. These are just my opinions. I would love to hear other scenarios about what kind of fights and who will do what to whom. I welcome opinions about who wins, loses, and draws. As creator of these polls I refrain  from making predictions.

Marilyn Monroe vs Jayne Mansfield: This two are arguably the biggest sex symbols of the 1950s so there is special pride in this catfight. I see a very hard fought catfight with the claws out. Each will go after the others best assets. Marilyn will try to destroy Jayne's large boobs. Jayne will use her boobs to smother Marilyn. Marilyn will try to squash Jayne's tiny waist and Jayne will squeeze Marilyn's waist, making fun of her 'pudgy' belly.

Anita Ekberg vs Elizabeth Taylor: The big Swede with try and dominate Elizabeth with her size and muscles. Elizabeth will move in close where she can work Anita's face, body and prodigious chest with her sharp claws. Anita could crush Elizabeth with her legs but I wouldn't be surprised to see Elizabeth choke the life out of Anita. Elizabeth may try and humiliate Anita by show how winding her legs around Anita's legs in a leg lock hold for the win. Problem is that Anita's legs might overpower Elizabeth's and force a leg lock submission.

Ursula Andress vs Yvonne Craig: The Bond girl has shown she is tough, mean and knows how to fight. Yvonne is in good shape from her dancing and has very strong legs and quadriceps. Ursula will try and wrap up Yvonne with some punishing holds. Yvonne will try and dance around Ursula, leaping into the air with some high flying kicks. If Ursula traps any part of Yvonne between her legs it is all over for Yvonne. If Yvonne is able to get Ursala's head between her thighs then Ursula will scream out her submission.

Kim Novak vs Jane Fonda: Kim has consistently shown her fighting abilities although her fights have been getting closer all the time. Jane has been very inconsistent and streaky. She wins several fights in a row and then lose a few in a row. Jane won her last fight so she may be on a winning streak. This fight will be similar to the Ursula vs Yvonne fight in that Kim will use her strength and her methodical style to go after Jane. Jane will use her speed and agility to try and keep Kim off balance. High kicks to Kim's head and chest may even knock her off balance. Kim may be tempted to try and kick as high as Jane which would be a mistake as she cannot match Jane's high kicks. But if Kim has a strong headlock as well as strong legs. She could bull dog Jane down with a headlock which would counter Jane's high kicks and her speed.

Diana Dors vs Diana Rigg: A fight for the better fighting Diana. The classy Mrs. Peel vs the brassy blonde. Skilled fighting by Rigg vs hairpulling, scratching, biting all out nasty attack by Dors. If Rigg can keep away from Dors talons and toss her around she will win. If not, Dors will leave Riggs a sorry mess.
 
Stella Stevens vs Esther Williams: The book on this fight is that Stella is the much better catfighter whilst Esther is more athletic and stronger. But Esther shouldn't underestimate Stella's stamina as Stella has already surprised a few foes. I wouldn't be surprised if Esther throws a few punches particularly to Stella's guts and abs to try and wear her down and gain the advantage. I wouldn't be surprised if Stella charged at Esther, leaped up and grabbed her hair with both hands and take her to the ground where she then straddles her. Esther could easily unseat Stella but I Stella could keep coming back with her claws and catfighting attacks.

Mamie Van Doren vs Ava Gardner: Another blonde vs brunette catfighter. Another vicious, no holds barred catfighter vs a bigger woman. Viciousness against strategy. Will Ava prove too strong for Mamie or will Mamie's energy overwhelm Ava and wear her down?

Barbara Eden vs Rita Hayworth: The young blonde sweetheart against the aging redhead sweetheart of fellows a few years older. This will not be a vicious catfight with no punches thrown, no scratching and no biting. I see the two starting off by alternating slaps. Barbara using her energy and speed and Rita her experience and longer reach. Also something we have not seen much of, cheek pinching and tweaking. If one of them believes she is losing she will grab the others hair and try and throw her to the ground. This will result in a long standing battle that will move all over the room as each woman tries to knock the other off her feet. Hands will be buried in hair by both women. The woman who gets the other down and gets on top will win.

The only one sided match in this grouping of fights would have the very athletic Rita Hayworth laying a beating on lovely Barbara Eden.

At 38 Rita was probably past her best fighting years. Still I would expect her pride and experience to be of benefit against Barbara. As for a fight between Rita and Kim in Pal Joey you are not the only one who fantasized about this. There certainly was build up with Kim being hired by Columbia Pictures in an attempt to 'control' Rita.  But alas it didn't occur, either in the movie or backstage. I read a biography that said Kim and Rita hardly met during the filming so there wasn't much interaction between them.

Not sure how long ago you met Elizabeth Taylor and certainly was she often in poor health. She seemed pretty feisty in the movie The Mirror Crack'd with Kim Novak when booth were in their late 40s and had put on a little weight. I think that would have been an entertaining fight. Liz was also a dynamo of action in Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf? At 24 she looked lke she could be a wild cat if she got mad at someone so I wouldn't write her off so easily. I must admit my favorite fantasy for Liz was against Marilyn Monroe. Liz was one of the premier brunette sex symbols of the time and Marilyn was one of the premier blonde sex symbols of the time. A rip roaring, haripulling, slapping, scratching, kicking catfight between the two would have been most entertaining.
As far as the current Jane Fonda vs Kim Novak fight, Jane seems to be giving Kim all she can handle. I thought Kim would overwhelm her but Jane may well put the screws to Kim before this one is over. This one is close so I urge Kim and Jane supporters to vote. Actually the polls close on Tuesday so I urge fans of all to vote, either for their favorite if they want to see them win or against their favorite if they prefer to see them lose.

Zaire and Google are the ones to thank, Pete. I had never heard of this encounter so it was a new one for me. Most of the time these rumors of tussles are just that, rumors. But in this case it turned out to be true, although the damage done to Jayne seems to have grown with time. I'll bet the 29 year old Jayne was startled by the attack frin her 43 year old assailant. The article says Alma Del Rio was a Italian cabaret entertainer who specialized in Spanish dancing. My  guess is that she was Spanish with a surname like Del Rio. Too bad they didn't give her height or weight. And where were the cameras??? Too bad they stopped it. Would have liked to seen if Jayne could have fought back or been totally dominated.
