I get such a kick when I hear my opponents are in pain...when you let out that low scream it not only sends an adrenalin rush through me but starts off a wave of shouts and noise from the onlookers. They seem to be almost leaning forward, wanting to be part of it, tightly packed around the mats, turning the wrestling area into an arena, a ring, with ropes made of humans.
Both of us are known for having high pain thresholds, but you are like in some sort of zone right now, not only soaking up the crush on your lungs and ribs but actually managing to lift me off the mats an inch or so and plunge back down to try and break my scissors. It's an incredible show of guts as much as strength and fitness and endurance...even with 100% focus on the task in hand I get a sort of out-of-body experience and see our muscles straining - our arms, your biceps, my legs in particular - as if I'm one of the onlookers.
However, I'm in a zone too myself...a determined mindset to keep the advantage, to beat you, to hurt you, to do whatever it takes, at least that I can get away with in front of this over-ripped ref, to gain more yelps of pain from you, to break you and finally to extract that beautiful moment of submission.
In an exquisitely fast motion, on the third plunge backwards, I quickly release the scissors around your waist - big cheers from your mates - but in a nano second, both hands gripping your left wrist, I twist your arm, keep it straight, twist my body and wrap my legs around your arm, hard and fast fast fast...just as you are able to draw in your first decent breath into your lungs after the excruciating scissors, I lay on my back, my legs around your arm, my left heel nestled between your neck and your shoulder, arm held fast, dragging you down, and bending your elbow joint back against my thigh/knee.
We were already close to one edge of the mats, I swear I can feel the heat from the row of watchers by us....
'No mercy!' I hiss....the ref is on her hands now...my supporters and mates are chanting...'ask her, ask her, ask her!'
