Those Golden Days of Yesteryear

Remember when you were a kid and there were so few sources for female fights that ANY fight no matter how short or lame was worth trying to see?  Here is one of those you probably looked for as a kid (if you are as old as we are).  Start watching at about 25:10

Yes, that's Dale Evans from the Roy Rogers Show episode "Desert Fugitive."  Like to think that Dale did her own fight scene but that is obviously her stunt double Alice Van-Springsteen

Some of my favorites of women fighting from the Golden Days on TV

1. Destry Rides Again
2. I Love Lucy - Wrestling in Grapes
3. Mission Impossible - that featured a great catfight
4. My World and Welcome To It - that featured a catfight
5. The WWF when there was a ladies wrestling match

Just to name a few.

Tony

Cheers!

What a great post!

I grew up watching Roy Rogers and all the other western TV shows of that era, but I never saw that episode.  Women fighting in the movies and on TV was a rarity in  those days, but it seems if there was going to be a catfight back then, it was most likely in a western.  And those fights were catfights....rolling over and over, pulling hair, legs tangled up, not the martial arts kicks and punches seen today.

One thing that always fascinated me about those shows, especially Roy and Dale's show, was the old western setting, with guns and horses, yet the era was in the 40's and 50's.  Remember Pat' Brady's jeep, Nellybelle?  Those shows were excellent....much better than most of the garbage on today, in my opinion.  Too bad there weren't more catfights in those old shows.

This being the 1950s, Dale's hat should have come off as her opponent grabbed her by the hair, causing Dale to reciprocate, with the ladies falling to the barn floor as they rolled around pulling hair.

Rawhide, exactly!  I would love to have seen a good catfight in every western movie.

6. The Bionic Woman- Jamie Summers becomes a pro wrestler in one episode.
7. Wonder Woman- Always waiting for a catfight that never comes.
8. Dynasty- Very overrated catfight IMO.
9. Various Pro Wrestling orgs (LPWA, GLOW, AWA, and WWF).
