Maria Sharapova was super angry. Seeing herself as superior to... well, everyone, she had tried to make a statement by attacking Caroline Wozniacki on the beach some months earlier. She had even got her friend to record the fight on her phone. The result had been far from what she had expected. After grabbing Wozniacki by the hair she had been slapped from side to side, her arms flailing. Eventually she pushed herself away from the furious Dane, grabbed her arm and tried to toss her to the ground, but Maria was somehow overpowered and thrown onto her backside. She let out a scream as she saw Wozniacki coming towards her, scrambled to her feet and ran without looking back.
In the months since the scuffle Wozniacki had been telling everyone she could about it. Current and former players alike had sent messages mocking Sharapova and it was more than she could tolerate. When Wozniacki and her friend, another former player, Gisela Dulko had brought it up and made fun of her to her face at a charity event Sharapova started shaking with rage. She wanted to humiliate them, but even she couldn't take them out 2 on 1, so she sat through the meal and surveyed the room. Her own former friend, Maria Kirilenko was there. They had been close... maybe she would help.
Wozniacki and Dulko laughed on at their table as the Marias greeted one another. Sharapova pointed out the laughing pair and managed to convince Kirilenko of the fun they could have.
Sharapova wanted the pair humiliated in front of the crowd and so lost no time. She took Kirilenko's arm and the pair marched right over.
"Payback is a bitch!" Sharapova screamed, slapping Dulko out of her chair.
Wozniacki jumped up and got in between Dulko and the two Marias.
"Really? Here?" Caro asked
"Right here, 2 v 2. I hope you laughing bitches are ready to be stripped naked!"
Kirilenko was shocked at the comment and Dulko looked worried, but Wozniacki gave a huge grin.
"You two are going to be all over the news"
The phones were out and the fight was on.
