$600 Wager vs The Newcomer

$600 Wager vs The Newcomer
A comparison

1.  The actresses
California Wildcats did a good job in the late 1980's of finding Size 1 actresses with teased hair willing to uninhibitedly get fully nude, and spend ample fight time in the doggy-style position, on camera while fighting.  (Venus deLight's current fans may be surprised to see this interation of Venus--though not appearing in either of these films, she was the CW prototype [ or is archetype the word I'm looking for?] of the actresses in this film.)  The blondie in $600 Wager 'lays it all out there', literally and figuratively, throughout this film, so she earns the nod for that film.
$600:  1.0, New:  0.0

2.  The leads
Again, I dare you to get your mind off of the $600 Wager blondie after watching her gird her loins to fight for her man.  Way more energy than any of the 4 Newcomer ladies.
$600:  2.0, New 0.0

3.  The premise
The Newcomer is based on 3 Betas vs 1 Alpha.  The $600 Wager is about determining which girl is the Alpha.
$600:  3.0, New 0.0

4.  The setting
Same setting in both--the fighters' homes.
Push.
$600:  3.5, New 0.5

5.  The fight(s)
Not much drama in who's going to win The Newcomer fight.  If The Newcomer was any kind of woman, she'd 'pick on someone her own size.'
$600:  4.5, New 0.5

6.  Intangibles
Two men pressuring their wives to fight each other doesn't permit the ladies as much agency as today's world (correctly) insists women having.  Nor is it very sexy, candidly.  The Newcomers, on the other hand, were a de facto Female Fight Club.
$600:  4.5, New 1.5

Great analysis, $600 wager is my favourite cw fight so agree with overall score. Would give Tina antman at least a draw in the first category she is sexy as hell.

I will stick up for the men they didn’t force them to fight merely highly encouraged it and both women wanted to fight

The way the fight escalated made it even sexier.

The $600 wager is one of my favourite fights, and i have often wondered if this scenario has actually happened somewhere in the world, where 2 couples have gotten together just for a drink and when the drink flows the men start talking about fighting and........ well it ends up with something like the $600 wager.........and yes great analysis of the films BTW

$600 Wager is one of my most favorite fights of all time.  My only regret was that the blonde didn't win.  I think the idea that the husbands organized the fight over a money bet adds a great element of eroticism to the story.

"California Wildcats did a good job in the late 1980's of finding Size 1 actresses with teased hair willing to uninhibitedly get fully nude," Indeed they did; what is particularly surprising is how many of them were actually aspiring actresses, with some "B" movie work in their portfolios; like Michelle Bauer, Pamela Gilbert, Nancy Peters etc. I think "Trish", the brains behind the company, had a lot of contacts in the hollywood and "adult model" industry, and was able to get some incredible women willing to perform. She also did a fantastic job of pairing the performers up, getting very exciting, even matchups - the very young, still slender, but extraordinarily muscled Venus Delight, against the slightly smaller, but very similarly built "Teala" (or "Gretchen" or "Greta" or whatever her name really is) is a great example - as was Michelle Bauer and her near body double Jolanda Amberfoos in "Rematch". And, for untrained fighters, some of these pairs really went at each other, especially when their clothes were off!

I appreciate the thoughtful discussion of whether two men making their wives "act out" the husbands' wager is erotic or un-PC.  Speaking as a Gen X mom with a Gen Z daughter, I think I can safely declare that this is a Woke/Unwoke Generational debate whose gap can't be closed.  Think about it:  the husband who wins the $600--does he plan to share the winnings with his wife, whose sweat earned the money?  The wife who lost the $600--is that how she would have preferred the $600 to be spent?  There's just an inequity in the husband-wife dynamic in those 2 marriages that we in the 1970s/1980s were willing to look past, that women have said "Enough" to with Harvey Weinstein/Les Moonves/Matt Lauer.

If $600 Wager were remade today, it would be the two wives setting the terms and the stakes.  And maybe inviting the husbands to watch--but maybe not.

I think I rightfully consider myself a confident, independent millennial.  That said, woke or not, it is sometimes just sexy to let someone else drive, especially in the context of doing naughty things.  Yes, I reserve the right to object, and maybe even to set certain parameters for participation.  But being the follower to a sexy, confident man on occasion is not inconsistent with my rights or integrity as a woman.  I choose to let him direct me, because sometimes, its just plain hot to do so.

agree if $600 wager were remade today it would be different but doesnt have to be that different. i would still put up $600 as a bet with the other bloke that my wife would win because i have confidence in her. It would no doubt cost me a lot more because i would have to buy janet countless other treats to do such a thing. i do not think we have an inequity in our marriage, the point of this film and why i love it so much is the excitemnt of the wives nervous to fight at first then getting really into it.

it would be a great challenge for one of the producers to day to do a remake.

See, but even the reason it was so exciting at the time doesn't "age well", in my opinion.  To younger generations, whether it's meant by the husband or not, the woman hears a semi-patonizing, "See, honey, I told you you'd like it." [which they've heard too much in life in other contexts]

It's just a generational thing.

I have to add my support to the other contributors of this thread. California Wildcats ' $600 wager'  is a good video. The scenario is very important to the match in my opinion. Another exciting CW match was  'Bad Ass Biker Bitches' where a couple of bikers take their women out to a place in the desert to fight. There are other greats from this company too.

"California Wildcats. And, for untrained fighters, some of these pairs really went at each other, especially when their clothes were off!

The artistic inspiration for the iconic California Wildcats doggie-style position nude pin was likely the 1973 movie 'Amazons', which had an extended nude catfight where the 2 actresses repeatedly assumed that pose.  On the mid-1980s, it was almost impossible to see the film, but once seen, it was not easily forgotten.
