Thanks for starting this thread. It seems like everyday I recall another disappointment. It gives me the opportunity to reminisce, vent and to laugh at myself for all of the hours that I invested in futile attempts to watch a catfight or wrestling match back before the Internet.
Another movie came to mind. It was called
Secret Society and it was released around 2002. It's about a group of plus-sized women factory workers who organize a sumo wrestling club. When I first read about the premise I thought that someone must have been reading my mind, or maybe my posts on Barb's site, and found that my fantasies were movie-worthy. This was going to be the "all to end all." Oh well.
After 90 minutes of following dialogues that were sometimes witty, sometimes humorous and sometimes boring, the final climactic wrestling scene involves the women's club wrestling against a group of Japanese ----------------MEN. I hate mixed wrestling. Can't stand it. I had to laugh for allowing myself to be drawn in, yet again.
The general theme of the movie was about women's empowerment, with a particular strength being realized by shy, heavy women. I got the message, I just didn't get to see what I was hoping for.
