I believe Elke's reputation has a lot to do with the stereotype of the German woman - blonde, tough, strong and dominant.  While she has not been stream rolling Raquel, she has remained the dominant fighter throughout the fight always coming back to be on top. At the moment, she is one point ahead so I assume that she has Raquel pinned. Both women are beginning to run out of petrol (the vote count is getting high) so it could well end with the domiant blonde Fraulein getting the best of the less dominant American redhead/brunette/blonde Yank. As I said in my previous post, Elke appears to have very strong legs and, while Raquel has quite nice legs herself, I believe that Elke will get Raquel to submit with a grapevine or a well applied waist or head scissors. I have no doubt that when this fight is over and all the vote are counted, Elke will definitely endure and take her victory pose with hands held high in the air holding the German flag. Deutchland uber alles!

It isn't barbosa's fault if Raquel is ugly. The other photo you mention would seem to favor Raquel because it shows her heavier and not the skinny woman she was at the time she would be fighting Elke. In those days her legs and arms were like toothpicks.

If you think that Raquel is ugly, then you must be in the very small minority on this board.  Of course, each to his own.  I do agree with you on one point, however.  Raquel at age 50 (the picture presented) looks extremely good for her age and is probably an appropriate picture to post against the much younger Elke. I guess Barbosa was really trying to be fair - equal vs. equal.  If pictures of our combatants were taken in 1970 (the age at which this fight was to have taken place - age 29), then you would have seen that Raquel did not have skinny legs - certainly no more skinning that Elke's  The picture presented by GF of Raquel was taken in either 1964 or 1965. By 1970, Raquel has put on some very pleasing pounds in her legs, butt, arms, and breasts.

What I propose is that Barbosa - who obviously has the most extensive library of celebrity pitures on the net - post pictures of Elke vs. Raquel in a "Who's got the best legs" contest.  He should post pictures of the actresses in similar poses showing their legs.  Let the board decide who has the best legs.

The great American Philosopher, Yogi Berra, once said: “It ain’t over till it over!” and this fight isn’t over yet.
As Raquel lies in the surf after being unceremoniously deposited there by the German he-woman, she is revived by the ice cold water.  Realizing that she must have blacked out from Elke bear hug, she looks around for her opponent and sees her bare-ass naked preening in front of the Director.  God! This blonde is so into herself.  Elke thinks that having a nice ass, great legs, smallish waist, nice but small breasts and an angelic face makes her better than the American sex bomb but Raquel will have none of it and plans to prove who the better woman is.  This fight is no longer about the championship; it is about a one-on-one struggle for physical and sexual domination and about who is the better woman.
The cold water has revived Raquel and she is ready to go at the blonde again.  Crawling on her hands and knees towards Elke, she catches the eye of the Director who is secretly in love with her.  He purposely keeps Elke engaged in conversation until Raquel moves to a standing position and wraps her left arm around Elke’s neck had snaps three or four punches into Elke’s kidneys.  As Elke screams, she is tripped down to the sand with Raquel landing on top. Raquel attempts a camel clutch but she is unable to hold on to Elke’s leg as Elke struggles to break the belly pin.  Raquel, still holding the rear headlock, pushes Elke’s angel face into the sand.  Elke, kicking and digging her one foot into the sand, is finally able to leverage her body upwards enough to get some much needed air.  Raquel, unwilling to release the reverse head lock rolls backward pulling Elke, back to belly, on top of her.  As we leave the scene, Raquel is attempting to wrap her legs around Elke’s to hold her in place while Elke has locked her legs together at the ankle preventing Raquel from immobilizing her.  In an attempt to break Raquel’s suffocating head lock, Elke lifts up her butt and slams it down  into Raquel’s  belly once .. Then again … and again.  So far, Raquel’s rock solid abs are withstanding the butt-whomping attack but will she be able to hold on? And, the fight goes on ……………….and, the fight goes on!

Save it, we will have to have a 'seniors' tournament some day. I was just trying to pull byline's leg a bit.  I could not believe that he said that Raquel had skinny legs.

And I was pulling your leg in saying Raquel is ugly. However even you admit she was ugly in that photo or at least not at her best. But I wasn't pulling your leg about the legs. At least when she appeared in 1,000,000 B.C. her legs and arms were thinner than normal, at least in my opinion. That made her beating Martine in the fight push the limits of credibility. Later on Raquel put on weight and her yoga practice seemed to help a lot. As she aged she became more beautiful and sexier to me. Elke aged well also but Ursula Andress did not in my opinion. At any rate it good use some more good pictures from barbosa.

What a great round with some great fights and lots of opinions and comments expressed. There was a record 8 predictions by pundits for a few fights. There was lots of discussion on the Elke Sommer vs Raquel Welch fight and more great photos by barbosa. It wasn’t all controversy and disagreements. Half of the fights had a unanimous agreement by the pundits and none of the underdogs were able to produce an upset to put a black mark on the pundits’ predictions.

Elke Sommer 59 vs Raquel Welch 58 {Pundits 4-4}:
What a super fight this one was. It lived up to its hype. Two women who hate each other trying to tear the other apart. Blonde vs Brunette and European vs American. Some strong opinions were expressed concerning this fight. Blogger348 thought Raquel was not in the same class as Elke and djcrash thought the opposite, that anyone could think Elke could come close to Raquel. Mindcastle agreed with tipping scales in the Raquel is much tougher than Elke favor.  Vasago tilted the scales closer to even by predicting Elke would knock Raquel out in a brutal victory. Byline and realisticman had it as a close fight, each predicting the opposite outcome. In hindsight I think byline’s description of what would occur came the closest to the truth. And then there is barbosa. Raquel is his overall sexiest “woman in the world and who ever existed.” So he likes to see her dominated in the end. His fight description was also very good except Elke did not dominate Raquel as much in the end as he described. I should also point out that even though Mindcastle that Raquel  would wipe the floor with Elke he was quite objective in the describing the action as it went on with a back and forth fight whose outcome was in question right up until the end.
      And now for the fight. The fight was extremely close and back and forth with Elke winning an exhausting fight by one vote. It was the second closest fight with only the draw between Suzann and Farrah being closer. Elke and Raquel edged out Ann-Margret and Luciana which also differed by a vote based on percentages. The ending was not without controversy and Raquel was a poor loser. She picked up on the comments Mindcastle yelled out during the fight and accused me of favoring Elke in the fight. She claimed she never submitted to Elke. “I would never submit to that fucking stupid common two-bit whore blonde slut not even if she was killing me.” I answered that I had enforced the loud scream rule just for that reason. Raquel scream so loudly as Elke was squeezing her between her powerful legs that I did called it a submission before Raquel suffered permanent injury and maybe several broken ribs. Raquel still fumed “I want a rematch with that bitch.” Elke smile “Be careful what you wish for you weak, stupid cxnt or you will get it. This time I won’t take it so easy on you.”
     The fight did not start out so well for Elke. As byline stat4ed, Raquel jumped Elke early and had her down. Raquel was the more aggressive to start the fight. She had Elke straddled, was slapping her face raw and then had her claws ready to mar her face permanently. Elke was struggling until she heard djcrash and Mindcastle yelling insults at her and that they were right about Elke being weak in the upper body and completely outclassed by Raquel. The bale o f hay that broke the camel’s back was Raquel taunting Elke, calling her a titless wonder with the body of a boy. Wonder where she got those words from? An angry Elke gritted and teeth and began to fight back in earnest. She was encouraged by the words of Blogger345. In addition, Raquel had a little bit of a let up in her attack as she heard barbosa’s voice saying that Elke would put the screws to Raquel. That lapse was all Elke needed to reverse the situation. Raquel was not about to lie down and take it and she fought back even harder and dirtier. Again, as several have written the fight went back and forth. Once again, byline got the essence of the fight correct with Elke having the advantage more often than not but not being able to get the resolved Raquel to submit. Raquel had Elke in trouble now and then but wasn’t strong enough to get Elke to submit. He did get the ending wrong as Elke did not choke Raquel unconscious with her fingers around her throat. I won’t give a blow by blow description of the fight. Mindcastle did an excellent job so I suggest you go back and reread his comments. Right at the end it did look like Raquel had Elke in a compromising situation and would win. But Elke powered out. She did it by showing her arms were stronger than Raquel’s as if to prove a point to Mindcastle. The she clamped her strong legs around Raquel’s ribs and began to squeeze. Raquel would not submit no matter how hard Elke squeezed. Finally Elke stretched out and squeezed as hard as she could. Raquel involuntarily let out a piercing, horrible scream in pain as it sounded like her ribs were cracking. I immediately signaled an end to the fight and pulled Elke’s legs apart before Raquel’s ribs were completely broken. Raquel protested but I saw where her famous breasts were pressed flat against her rib cage and her rib cage couldn’t take anymore pressure.

Sybil Danning 62 vs Senta Berger 49 {Pundits 4-2}:
In all honesty this fight did not live up to my expectations that it would be a very close and highly contested fight. Turns out that djcrash, samrose, and Vasago knew more than I did as they predicted an easy win for Sybil. Sybil showed the early form she had to be one of the favorites to win it all until she had a few set backs. Senta appeared to be a little lackluster in her aggressiveness towards Sybil. Give Sybil credit as her strong aggression may have caught Senta off guard and she never recovered. Sybil went for the hair first. Once she had Senta down she just beat the crap out of her to give Senta the 6th worst beatdown of the round. Later on Sybil told me she wanted to put Senta away early and save her energy for her fight with Elke Sommer. Sybil can’t win the title but she wants to gain some respect back by kicking the shit out of that smug, German bitch. Beat Elke so badly that Ann-Margret will jump ahead of her to win it all when Ann-Margret creams Farrah Fawcett. So her part, Senta told me that once she was in trouble with Elke she knew it was a waste of energy to fight back in a losing cause. It was better to save her energy and totally demolish that prima donna, Raquel Welch.

Loni Anderson 75 vs Goldie Hawn 39 {Pundits 4-2}:
Most of the pundits thought Loni would have an easy time with Goldie. Djcrash and samrose took the opposing view. Samrose had Goldie using her dancer’s legs to scissor Loni and djcrash went so far as to say that Loni had no chance against Goldie. Loni had other ideas and was going for the biggest beatdown of the round. She came close, coming in 2nd and only lost to Jill St. John who unceremoniously annihilated Annette Funicello. Goldie went for Loni’s super breasts only to discover that small breasts can be more sensitive to pain and mauling. Loni used Goldie’s breasts to bring her to her knees and then force her on her back to breast smother her unconscious. Loni then dragged Goldie into the water where she demonstrated her complete domination of Goodie by dunking her and then letting her up for air over and over, racking up the points all the while.
A water logged, gasping Goldie raised her hand out of the water over and over to signal her submission but Loni just kept dunking her, trying for the biggest beat down.

Tuesday Weld 63 vs Britt Ekland 49 {Pundits 5-0}:
The pundits went unanimously for Tuesday and she lived up to their predictions. Tuesday is only an inch shorter than Britt if you believe their published statistics. But Britt’s legs seem several inches longer. Britt was expecting Tuesday to cower and become afraid when she came out with a big display of force. Unfortunately for her Tuesday was right in saying she was faster than Britt and would kick her ass all over the sand. Those little, stocky legs of Tuesday put on some show as they overwhelmed Britt’s slender legs. The fight ended up with Britt on her stomach while Tuesday press her foot on the back of Britt’s head, forcing her to eat sand. Tuesday ended up giving Britt the 5th worst beating.

Stefanie Powers 53vs Adrienne Barbeau 62 {Pundits 0-5}:
Adrienne also lived up to the unanimous selection by the pundits but not quite as much as Tuesday did. Adrienne had dreams of giving Stefanie the worst thrashing this time. There were at least two things that kept Adrienne from given Stefanie a worse beating than she did. The first was that Stefanie was faster and so it took some time for Adrienne to coral her and start battering her. The second is given by samrose, that Adrienne just had too much fun with Stefanie before smothering her with her DD’s. Clearly Adrienne was in no danger from Stefanie and so she took her time having fun at Stefanie’s expense.

Barbara Bach 40 vs Elvira 73 {Pundits 0-5}:
Another fight where all the pundits thought that Cassandra Peterson, in the persona of Elvira, would get the better of Barbara. Almost all thought it would be one sided with Elvira going after the beatdown title. Elvira quickly put Barbara away and made her her slave. As many predicted, Elvira played cave girl games with the cave girl, Barbra. She dragged Barbara by hair cave girl style into the cave when she did untold things to Barbra. Untold because we couldn’t see what was going on. All we could hear were alternate screams of pain and moans of pleasure coming from Barbara. Had Elvira done this out in the open she might well have earned the biggest beatdown. As it was she was happier having her pleasure and fun with Barbara away from prying eyes. Elvira did give Barbara the 3rd worst beating even though much of the action occurred in private. Barbosa raised a good point about the extra security guards and I have retained some and not only for Elvira’s matches. And certainly what she says about Elvira keeping Barbara (and other victims) conscious so she can see the terror in their eyes is true and of some concern. And finally no doubt Barbara will hear that satanic laugh of Elvira’s for months to come. We could hear it from inside the cave. But the combined sounds of the sinister laugh, the screams of pain coupled with the moans of pleasure were not enough to send the security guards inside the cave. Now when the guards broke up the Elke / Raquel fight so Raquel wouldn’t be permanently injured one guard suffered sever facial lacerations from an enrage Raquel. Elke is certainly lucky those talons never ravaged her face and Elke might want to reconsider if she wants a rematch with Raquel.

Lindsay Wagner 52 vs Dian Parkinson 60 {Pundits 2-3}:
The pundits gave a slight nod to Dian over Lindsay for this fight. Dian got a convincing win over Lindsay but it was not a blow out, consistent with the 3 to 2 prediction in her favor. Byline thought Lindsay was too fast for Dian and realisticman thought Dian would get Lindsay down but somehow magically escape and get the better of Dian. Samrose predicted Dian would win but would have a strangely difficult time of it. Dian did have trouble with Lindsay’s speed and had trouble getting ahold of her. That is until she pulled Lindsay’s jacket over her head to momentarily blind her and give her some weakening punches to the stomach. Then she used the sleeves to tie Lindsay’s hands behind her back and gave Lindsay the black eyes Vasago predicted. Dian added some humor to end the fight by taking barbosa’s words and saying “Bionic woman… yes… kiss my bionic ass!”

Jaclyn Smith 51 vs Edy Williams 61 {Pundits 0-5}:
Not only did all the pundits pick Edy but all said she would give Jaclyn a real thrashing. The surprise was that Edy was never in contention for vying for the beatdown title. She tossed Jaclyn around at will as predicted. She stripped her naked. Then hog tied her with Jaclyn’s own scarf. Edy seemed to be content to leave the naked, humiliated, bare assed, hog tied Jaclyn lying on the floor as she proudly walked away.

Absolutely great writeup of the Elke Sommer vs. Raquel Welch debacle.  

However, by your own admission, the record shows that Raquel did not submit to Elke and I believe that you called a premature end to the fight because of your purported 'relationship' with the Teutonic vixen. You called the fight in Elke favor because you knew that Elke was quickly becoming exhausted and would not be able to hold her scissors much longer.  Raquel had been in a similar situation with Ann-Margaret and AM could not make her submit. In fact, AM had to knock Raquel out in an effort to put down her feisty rival. It is a universally acknowledged by the other contestants that Ann-Margaret has stronger legs than Elke.  As you recall, she caused Elke to cry out in pain on three occasions when she viced Elke's thigh in a test of thigh strenght; Ann-Margret handed Elke her first defeat of the tournament and in so doing proved that she had superior upper body and leg strength.  So, my friend, I ask you - where did you spend the evening after the fight? The answer is obvious to me.  Is that a blonde hair that I see on your trousers? If you were a gentleman, the least you could do is encourage your muse to meet with Raquel in private and allow them to determine who is the real she-devil 'without interference'!

Blogger348, I stand by my decision to protect Raquel from permanent injury. Maybe you are someone who likes brutality and seeing someone's ribs broken and pierce their lungs. Some people just don't know when to quit and thus have to be protected. Raquel is one of those. Would you want to see her breasts removed so the surgeons could try and repair her lungs?
     Is for who I was with last night I am a gentleman and so won't say. If you had looked more closely you would have seen several shades of blonde, brunette, and red hair on my trousers. I can say it was neither Elke nor Raquel. Both were too tired and sore to do anything but rest and recoup for their next fights. You forget that there are some other tournaments going on.

Barbosa, thank you for the translation but your Chinese is as bad as your English. You misinterpret in a few areas. You didn't mention the part that Raquel is sexy but her arms and legs are too frail to be the sexiest woman alive. Mao Che Tung likes women with more substantial limbs obtained from the people's hard work.
     Your points about Martine, Adrienne, Pam, and Elvira have some merit but you have left out some others who are just as deserving of being ranked higher. As for Elke being on top, she won all her fights fair and square so her record speaks for itself. So I am satisfied and will be so even if she doesn't finish on top. If Ann-Margret finishes ahead of her then her record will speak for itself.
     Kim and Ursula have too many handsome suitors for them to pay the slightest attention to me. Would that what you say is true but you will see a mark that is on all Chinese forgeries on those pictures. As for Stella Stevens being a maid? Where did you come up with that translation. It would be more believable if I were Stella Stevens slave, but alas, she is out of my league and out of the league of many other women fighters whose ass she whipped.
     As for leaving out Sylvia Koscina I have no defense. But you do injustice to many other women who equally deserve to have been in the tournament. With 32 entries someone has to be left out and I will admit in hindsight that there are a few better choices I could have made. For example I clearly overestimated the fighting ability of Martine and probably should have included someone who would have fought better. I was influenced by thinking her rematch with Raquel Welch would be one for all time. We all make mistakes.
      One last thing, I don't apologize for Annette being included. Later on she would show some great fighting ability in a couple of Fantasy Island fights that would valid her selection. Besides, Raquel begged me to include her as she wanted a woman or two that she figured she could beat. Once again I am kind to Raquel and only receive hell for it.
     And another last thing. You forgot to translate the part where I should have included some women more representative of true Chinese women rather than that Nancy Kwan. (See previous remarks about type of women he likes. There are Chinese women who are way sexier than anyone in this tournament. And they could kick the candy-assed Elke and Ann-Margret with easy.

No hate or sarcasm intended. I was just trying to point out that perhaps you need some more lessons in Chinese or perhaps you learned the wrong dialect. I thought it was only proper to point out the significant areas where you misinterpreted what was written. I am sure the paragraphs you didn't relate was just an oversight and not intentionally left out because they didn't express opinions you agreed with.

By the way, would you like to purchase a wig made from 10o% Raquel Welch's hair?.
