I went to high school at a catholic all girls school.  Just because there weren't boys there didn't mean we didn't fight over them once in a while as we would meet guys at social events like dances etc on weekends and several of us would be there.  Rumors would start on Monday and fights might happen later that day.  I used to see all kinds of fights, most were not boy related but just a couple girls generally didn't like each other.  I got in about 3-4 while I was there but most were broken up by the nuns or teachers.

Sometimes not having boys around makes fights MORE likely, because then neither girl is worried about losing a fight in front of boys.

In the summer before my senior year in high school many of the girls from my school started to hang around with a bunch of us who were on the football team. In those days there were no weight rooms or workout facilities for the athletes at the school itself.  The father of one of my teammates who was quite wealthy converted one of the buildings  on his property into a gym for us to workout and prepare for the upcoming season. The gym had weights etc, ( no machines back then, ) a  punching bag, a heavy bag and of course boxing gloves. There was also an in ground pool on the property that of course we would use after our so called workouts. Can you see where this is going? The girls would come around, watch us workout and then go swimming.  One day someone suggested that the girls put on the gloves and box. I quickly tried to promote this activity. A few girls agreed and participated in girly, fluff style matches, no real anger or trying to hurt their opponent, but I believe the girls quickly realized that we enjoyed watching them "dance around " in boxing gloves in their bikinis. One day a blonde cheerleader( Barb) and a brunette majorette ( Sharon) put on the gloves and really went at it.  I believe the other girls enjoyed this fight as much as the guys. Barb won the fight, and later asked if she could borrow the boxing gloves for a day or two.  Unknown to us at the time was that the senior cheerleaders were going to use them in an initiation process where they made the new members box each other topless. Unfortunately we did not witness this initiation ritual.

fightfanatic: in response to your request about the fight between Barb and Sharon.  They really didn't like each and were in competition with each other since they were in jr. high school, so when they put the gloves on it was the perfect opportunity for them to settle their long time rivalry.
