CLIQUE WAR, WAR?
Ages ago, I organized Clique wide competitions. For awhile things seemed pretty quiet around here. With all the growth in the DOA girls (as well as all The Stockings Girls!) I thought maybe I'd float two of the old tournament ideas again.
Clique Wars Battle Royale
*See the "brackets" graphic below.
The idea is that individual girls sign up for a competition. You get the necessary number of girls and the brackets are filled in randomly. Then, each round has say 2 two weeks to play out. Each pair is responsible for setting up the time of their meeting. After the two weeks (or whatever is decided) is up, you move onto round 2.
Pros
- This was always my favorite. I LOVE the idea of a championship....at the end you have Clique Wars Champ for however long.
- It's exciting for spectators. When I did it before, it probably got the most attention of any of my events.
Cons
- It's the most difficult regarding schedules. I would say about half the matches ended in disqualification because the opponent just couldn't make the time. That's fine, we could probably assume this would happen again....if this kind of tournament IS done though, only girls with fairly flexible schedules should bother entering.
- People get competitive. The last time we did this there WERE some hurt feelings in the final four. In whatever the competition, we all have to remember that this is ONLY FOR FUN!! There are no prizes, it's all fantasy. The rule we had before is that the matchup only counted if both girls agreed on outcome. There was at least one match where both girls chose to be disqualified because they just couldn't agree. It would also be good to have a judge. Someone who could make a decision if someone was clearly supering.
Battle of the Cliques
This was another contest we held. The basic idea is a running scoreboard of each clique's wins. So previously, I think we reset it every month or three months (I'm blonde, I know). But the idea is that you have a running tally. So for example:
SILK STOCKINGS = 0
CLASSY TRAMPS = 0
DOA GIRLS = 0
So as an example: I have a fight with a Tramp and win, our clique gets a point, the scoreboard get updated.
PROS
- Way easier to plan. Don't have to worry about scheduling matches...Whenever girls fight, update the score.
CONS
- Hurt feelings! Seems hard to avoid.... I remember fights being contested....I think a simple rule... If neither girl can agree on a winner than no point for either clique. If it's not fun don't do it!
- Whereas the brackets are a pain up front (pairing girls, setting up, etc.) The headache here is the chaos of fights going on all the time. I think I updated the score every morning....Oh! I just remembered a rule! The LOSER had to report the outcome! This insured that there were no hard feelings. But yeah....I remember asking people to contact me directly
So what do people think? The one other thing I have to ask,
would someone (other than myself) be interested in being Clique Captain? With my current schedule I know I wouldn't be able to keep up on everything. It's not a ton of time, but maybe 45 min to an hour a day?
I thought I'd throw this out there.... If there IS interest or other competition idea, I could set up a poll to vote on format?
Hugs and kisses and glitter,
Heidi
