A few people have asked about my record of wins and losses so I thought I’d do a definitive list, at least of my senior years.
I fought in the CLAWS league for 9 years before retiring at the age of 34. Unlike many of my opponents at CLAWS I never fought anywhere else, something I now regret. 11 years later Jan coaxed me out of retirement and for the next 11 years I fought as a senior fighter. At the age of 57, I decided to call it a day, at least where tournaments were concerned.
Why? Mainly because it was getting harder. My old opponents had retired and the new girls were a lot younger and fitter than me. First Gabi went, then Clare, then Suzi, Nancy and Christine and finally Peggy and Jan.
In the final three years I had a new nemesis in the shape of Miss Tee (aka Terri Brooks), six years my junior and every bit as dominant as I’d been at her age, we fought nine times and I suffered two defeats for each victory I gained over her. It’s her turn for glory now, although that might be short lived.
It was only after I’d ‘retired’ from tournament fighting that I began to discover the world outside CLAWS and exactly how small a world it was. My story may be drawing to a close but I have many more stories to tell. Both about my younger self and about my friends and fellow fighters.
For the record, my senior tournament performance stats are:
Wrestling – fought 36, won 20 (12 by KO), lost 24 (7 by KO), drew 2
Boxing – fought 28, won 17 (13 by KO), lost 11 (10 by KO), drew 0
This only includes official match stats from CLAWS tournaments and doesn't include challenge matches. For completeness, my league wrestling stats are – fought 54, won 31, lost 23.
Below list of all my senior matches, tournament and otherwise, from facing Jan in October 2008 to boxing Lesley in August 2021, including all my tournament and challenge fights and few private encounters as well. Some of these stories have already been posted on FCF and I’ve given their titles and the categories I've posted them under. Others are still unfinished and will only appear if you ask for them.
Spoiler alert – I have included the results for these. If there’s one that you’d like to read, just comment with the year and opponent and I’ll see what I can do.
Remember these are only the stories that I fight in. There are also stories I’ve posted featuring other fighters, particularly Terri’s struggles as the new queen bee.
My personal ‘chronology’ will come to an end when I turn 60 and finally stop fighting altogether. Before that happens there are a few more stories to tell and then I'll turn to my 'back catalogue'
