I've expressed my opinion on Barbara Eden before and it's not only based on her win over Claudia Cardinale. Jeanne Crain was bottom of the standings for a very long time before getting better of Joan Collins and Liz Taylor which ultimately rescued her from being the weakest woman of all. I guess the biggest factor in Jane Russell's poor result was her age (she was one of the oldest out there) plus the general impression she's rather on the slow side and unable to match younger and quicker rivals. What also surprises me is the fact Diana Rigg's martial arts skills failed to get recognized. In real life she could have drop kicked most of the women she'd lost to in the polls IMO  ;)

Thanks again GF for the tremendous amount of good work you put into this, the most entertaining feature on the site. Like others, I expected a Sophia Loren/Anita Ekberg finale, with the well-toned Ursula Andress or young Tunisian Claude Cardinale poised to muscle their way in if one of them faltered. But the outcome clearly reflected most voters' wishes.
As I've said previously, I prefer to speculate on outcomes based real-world factors rather than images. (Where, for instance, Cardinale had to learn Italian and change her to Claudia in order to get into movies, and Diana Rigg had no martial arts skill and was uninterested in learning, as she repeatedly told interviewers.) In this field, I enjoyed considering how established actresses, some quite athletic, would do against unknown teens. But in terms of fun, it's equally valid to vote based on the actresses' images or roles.
It's probably impossible to come up with a field where voters would change their minds from match to match, so this field generally fell into place early. But from your stats, I was glad to see that at least a few women changed moved dramatically up or down from the initial rankings, even if it's not always clear why.
I don't know if you plan to continue these tournaments after the 60s one, but I'm looking forward to your next venture.

Thanks to barbosa, Vasago, Foam, kimval, and mindcastle for the nice words. I enjoyed doing this tournament and the 60s which has a few more fights to run. I must confess that I enjoyed the 50s tournament more as I thought there were more better match ups. As kimval said a lot of the fun is in mental images created when thinking of these women fighting it out. I got pleasure not only when the polls were active but also when looking through many comparison pictures of the women. That certainly brought up lots of visual images of them fighting.

I will be taking a rest after this. Time to relax and enjoy Vasago's excellent tournaments. I plagiarized or "borrowed" ides from hm as I went along to improve my polls. One example was listing the won/loss/tied and ranking under the photos for the fights.

Cheers to all, GF
