What got me hooked on videos was that it totally beat the hell out of staying up all hours of the night to watch a rerun of Destry Rides Again, or The Woman They Almost Lynched (etc., etc.) or waiting for the theatres to re-release From Russia With Love.   The availability of videos (Beta to VHS to DVD to streaming) has completely changed the landscape.  Technology that I used to dream about has become reality.  And who could have ever foreseen the internet and everything that it has contributed from websites like this to easy access to old movie and TV fights to the plethora of choices that we now have.  I just wish that I could start my life all over again.

Well, maybe that wouldn't be such a good idea.

Foxfax was a fun old women's wrestling fansite that had about as many links and departments as Barb's did, but it didn't last as long.  As for what got me into this, who knows?  I remember watching a women's match on TV when I was a preschooler.  Maybe that did.

I do remember Foxfax and it is sorely missed.

As an old fart, for me it was watching all the old western movies on TV. Lots of catfights ... long ones, not the 15 second ones you see in today's films and TV.

The Ian Fleming novel From Russia with Love. Even before the movie.

Of course there were Cavalier and Sports Review. Cynara anyone?

I always have to go with the old Popeye cartoon "Never Kick A Woman" in which Olive Oyl is at first beaten, then beats up a sexy blonde. I'm still not sure if that caused my interest in f/f fights or if it just triggered something that was already there.
I do remember Foxfax - it had photo-shopped pics of celebrities who were in a femme fighting league, drawings and links. I loved it but it didn't last long. That was early internet days, around 1998 or so, I think.
I used to send in stories to Cavalier and Nugget with both celebrities and just thinly-disguised versions of women I knew matched up in fights.
All I can say now is thank goodness for the internet. It has made following our little fetish so much more easy, cheaper and fun.
