best pop Super Bowl Halftime Show: Katy Perry vs Lady Gaga
« on: February 09, 2017, 12:05:06 AM »
After the praise of Lady Gaga's halftime show performance, Katy Perry is quoted that while good, it doesn't come close to her performance.  Lady Gaga hears this and mocks Katy for her sharks and how fishy Katy smells.  Katy and Gaga meet at a rewards show and decide to meet afterwards at a suite of a nearby hotel and catfight it out.  Who wins?  You decide!

We had fights between them before and Lady Gaga never seemed to have a chance.

I am a big fan of Perry who I think is beautiful.  I saw both women at the very start of their career and enjoyed both shows for their visual styles.  Saw Katy Perry at Van Warped tour in Detroit and then again at Clutch Cargoes in Pontiac.  Saw Lady Gaga at Royal Oak Music Theatre when show outgrew the Crofoot (the venue pictured in Robertared vs Shay Marie poll catfight).

I think this poll just showcases people are respecting Gaga more now she has normalized a bit and the fact that the Super Bowl performance was very good and very recent.  It has been awhile since Katy has been in the spotlight for a big musical event, though that third pic of her is super sexy (IMHO).  The results have been surprising to me also.

Still a few hours left  :)

I found Artpop terrible in its bland cheap 'synthesiser' sound production, but was extremely pleasantly surprised by the new album - actual music instruments which don't make you bored, and the work of a grown up woman all over.

I agree about Gaga's earlier album.  I am a huge fan of unique female singers (Cyndi Lauper, Tori Amos, Laurie Anderson, Wanda Jackson, Cocteau Twins, Siouxsie & the Banshees, Shonen Knife, Nina Hagen, Bjork, Enya, Janis Joplin, Eivør Pálsdóttir, Go-Go's, Runaways, etc) and found both Gaga's and Perry's first albums underwhelming (except song "I Kissed A Girl") but their live shows were very visually interesting.

Always enjoyed an artist with a unique visual style and while the music wasn't always the best, those 2 girls did know how to put on a show.  I am glad Gaga did go back to her jazz roots before she imploded and her fanbase is supporting the change.  Too often artist try to change it up and the fans get fickle.  Only Elvis Costello really got away with that from album to albumin the 90's and 00's.  Some artists like Ray Charles and Neil Young also were allowed to cross over genres without taking hits from fans who don't like change.
