Firstly, seasons greetings to everyone on the board.
I have always enjoyed the threads where people talk openly and honestly about their catfight fetish. Especially the impact iconic film catfight had on them at a formative age.
To contribute, I wanted to give a full and open account of my first encounter with one of the most famous and arousing catfights in move history - the gypsy girl catfight in the bond film "From Russia With Love". I hope through sharing this, other people can share their memories and impressions of this famous scene (and others like it) on the board.
#Overview#
Reading this board over the years it seems this scene has been responsible for igniting the catfight fetish in many people and starting a life long fixation on the topic.
The Frwl scene may not be the most explicit, violent or longest catfight ever made but to me it is one of the most erotic. The fighting itself is not spectacular, more a highly choreographed wrestling/dance routine. But what makes it for me for is the composition, buildup and the overt eroticim which is quite an achievement given the attitude of film censors in the early 1960s. Personally I think the confines and limitations in which the scene was devised mean more imagination was applied rather than the obvious removal of more clothes etc. I can imagine the reaction of many young men to the scene in cinemas back in the day.
For me the scene is memorable for a number of reasons:
A) The top quality direction by Terrence Young. The quality of the scene composition is first rate. Iooking at his subsequent filmography he seems to have had a passion for such scenes in films such as "Poppy is also a Flower" and "War Goddesses" (the second sweaty nude battle being another favourite of mine).
B) The two actresses (Martine Bewick and Aliza Gur) gave it their all and played it deadly serious. They imbued the scene with an erotic intensity with their murderous stares, looks of hatred and facial expressions. Physically they fully committed to the part, literally flinging themselves at each other. Even their line delivery was fantastic, as they exchanged words dripping in hatred and venom. Like bond, you didn't need a translation to understand their meaning!
C) The music and sound effects. I sometimes think this can be an overlooked element of a Catfight scene. In this case the balance of music and audio is fantastic. The music, titled "Girl Trouble", slowly builds as the catfight itself approaches. Even listening to just the music itself invokes images of circling combatants lunging at each other in ferocious combat.
Another turn-on was the almost sexual moans and groans from the two girls during the buildup and fight itself. I've always found the sounds of feminine struggles just at erotic as the visual elements. The grunting and hissing adding to the primal nature of the struggle.
D) The buildup to the catfight is equiste and for me pushes all the right buttons. It builds and builds until the erotic explosion of violence is unleashed. Terrence Young really knew how to engineer these scenes.
The intent of the two girls towards each other is clear from the start from the moment they set eyes on each other and launch themselves at each other in a frenzy. The looks of hatred exchanged, the charge towards each other, the clawed hands and almost sexual moans as they temporarily grapple before being separated.
Following that, their laser looks as they are addressed by the chief. Again, the intensity of their mutual insults is clear without having to understand the words.
This is followed by them undressing as the prepare for battle. Revealing their luscious legs and midriff. The sight of Aliza Gur's glistening, heaving, slightly sweaty, cleavage has always stayed with me.
E) The cause of the catfight really resonated with me. Being not very confident with girls at the time, the thought of two beauties actual prepared to compete and fight viciously over me in order to share my bed was rocket fuel to my labedo.
F) The catfight itself. Though not the most intense, I really enjoyed the sexy choreographed nature of the fight. The struggling and the wrestling is a good balance between the free-for-all of a real catfight and the ridiculous martial arts inspired catfights of today. The contest is fierce but erotically femine at the same time. I love also the smaller touches including the look of terror as Aziz Gur tries to stop her face being clawed, the mutual hissing as they break apart, and the shot of just their struggling gorgeous legs as the grapple standing up.
#My First Encounter with the Scene#
I distinctly remember seeing FRWL for the first time, I must have been around 10 years old. I'd always loved Bond Films, but at that age it was more the action and gadgets that was the main appeal rather than the scantily clad women who for me were just "there".
I was watching it with my parents in the living room. I wasn't particularly interested given the lack of cool gadgets and explosions.
I remember Bond being taken to the gypsy encampment with the Kerim Bay character.
However, my ears suddenly picked up when Kerim informs bond that they have come on the wrong night: "Two girls who love the same man want to kill each other. It must be settled the Gypsy way."
This cut through my disinterest immediately - what was this? I had been aware that women fighting in films had a strange impact on me for a few years before but in my, until then, pre-adolescent mind it was more an interesting & stimulating curiosity. I immediately focused on the film as bond was led into the camp. We're they really going to share two girls fighting like this in a bond film? I didn't remember any other bond film girl fights.
My mind started to race as the beautiful belly dancer entertained bond and his fellow guests at the head table. Would they show it? What would happen? My heart rate started to climb as my imagination sprung to life. I also felt stirings in my loins as my labedo responded to those thoughts.
The belly dance finished. The view changed to two caravans. The first caravan door was flung open and the first gypsy girl (Martine Beswick) appeared, all clawed hands, lithe legs and wild eyes. Quickly followed by the emergence of the 2nd girl (Alzia Gur). My heart rate was climbing rapidly and cock was rock hard. I shifted uneasily in my seat, acutely aware of my parents in the room.
On screen the scene played out. My heart was now hammering and palms sweaty. I did my best to hide it from my parents who remained indifferent to the film.
My eyes were riveted to the TV as they threatened each other, whispering incomprehensible threats and ritualistcaly removed some of their clothes. The catfight itself was over before I knew it but the impression was made. My cock was rock hard as the two beauties on screen tried to kill each other over a man.
Once the scene was over I quietly left the room to try and compose myself. The primal eroticism of two girls fighting over the love of a man (and his cock) really made a big impact on my developing adolescent psyche.
#Aftermath#
The catfight scene was seared into my memory. That night I couldn't get it out of my head. I must have masturbated twice that night thinking about it.
I was kicking myself that I hadn't recorded it on VHS (this was back in the early 90s).I therefore resolved to be fully prepared for next time. I scoured the TV listing for it. Finally after months of waiting it was on again. I succeeded in discreetly setting the video recorder. Finally I had it on tape to view at my leisure and for my pleasure.
Waiting until my parents were out, I closed the living room curtains. Sweaty palmed and heart hammering I fast forwarded through the film, enjoying the buildup. My cock was already hard in anticipation. Unlike last time I knew what was coming. Finally reaching the scene, I paused it briefly. My breath getting shorter I put my hands down my pants and grasped erect cock. Hand shaking slightly I pressed play. The scene played out before my eyes, each whispered threat, each groan, straining bodies writhing. I masterbated intensely and came quickly. It was as erotic as I remembered.
That same afternoon I replayed it over 3 times, wanking and coming each time. The final time I replayed it frame by frame (as best I could on those old VHS players) to savour every detail and pose.
Over the years I have scoured the Internet for relates material. Uncovering a whole host of publicity stills of the scene which either came from lost footage or were specifically posed for the camera. Also exerts from a Frwl behind the scenes documentary which interviewed the two actresses. They recalled that Terrence Young really asked them to throw themselves into it "to literally kill each other". I've always wondered if there is an archive somewhere with all the unused footage from that scene - perhaps one day it will resurface.
I hope these observations and recollections resonate with other people on this board.
