Shesfinished, the possible porn association might account for it. If you are at work or in a group setting, and someone asks if anyone saw the women's mma fight on tv last night, then the discussion would probably center on fight tactics, scoring, etc. The same for boxing. But discussing a catfight that was seen in person, or on a tv show or movie, just takes on a different dimension, at least to me.
I remember a long, LONG time ago, there was a tv show called Don Adam's Screen Test. Some of the old timers on here may remember it. Don Adams, who played Maxwell Smart in the old tv spy spoof, Get Smart, had audience contestants act out scenes from old movies or tv shows. It was kind of funny seeing two people who had no acting experience act out some goofy scene. I was in the military at the time, and I was at my duty station one night when the show happened to be on. And unbeknownst to me, the scene that night was the catfight from the movie Destry Rides Again.
The next day I was talking to my wife, and she told me about the show, and she was laughing about how funny it was, seeing the two women contestants act out the fight. I almost fainted. I was trying to laugh at what my wife was describing, but all the time I was dying because I didn't see the show! I didn't have the courage to tell her how I wished I would have seen it because it would have been a huge turn on for me.
By the way, here's a vid link to that episode. It's really not that fantastic, but at the time, hearing my wife talk about it, made it seem like the best scene ever.
