Two high school besties and volleyball teammates have gone divergent ways post-high school: one into nursing, the other into parks and wildlife management. Two different colleges, both out of state and so they have not seen each other in much longer than ever anticipated. They might be ex lovers, with a flickering flame still signifying mutual attraction. Yet only text messages between them ... and now they meet for lunch.
Frustratingly, the old connection that was so comfortable and comforting in the face of athletic (other teams) or social (homophobes) conflict is no longer their, and each young woman blames the other for changing. For damaging a bond deep friendship they each thought would enduring even after their high school love affair fizzled out,
The lunch turns more resentful, and the competitive fires that has driven them each in sports together, the strength they drew from one another in the face of social friction, now sets them more stubbornly against each other as a minor disagreement over bestie disenchantment gets out of control.
