Your golden age, and your media-niche-that-we-didn't-realize-The-World-needed until-we-had-it, remains your 2007-2010 "sweet spot", when 2-minute long cellphone catfights in public parks and backyards would be regularly posted, then discovered, then go viral; the best ones graduating to permanent fixtures.

Length:  2-minutes was the "just right" fight length.  Much longer, and friends and onlookers would tend to interfere.  Much shorter, and the fight didn't seem fair, usually because the loser's heart wasn't really in it.  Multiple 2-minute rounds sometimes worked out well, but then there was too much hair-fixing occurring between rounds.

Setting:  on grass in public parks and backyards seemed to produce the best fights.  Bathrooms were a surprisingly frequent setting, I guess because of privacy, but frequently seemed dangerous and just kinda gross.

Looks:  Well....the prettier the better.

Rules:  The fewer the better.  And ignore the losers in the crowd yelling "No hairpulling!".

The post-2010 demise:  When the cohort of available participants realized they would need to apply for jobs and committee memberships someday.

Unintended consequences:  others have pointed out that the era coincided with the demise of the Crystal Films/California Wildcats genre.  Coincidence?  Like not.

But all in all..... not bad for a small team of coders in Northern California.
