Neighbors fight to the finish.

I'm writing a story. Here's the first part. I have an idea about how I'm going to end it, but I wanted the community's opinion as well. Also, how do you visualize the combatants?

*********************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************

Years ago, I lived in an apartment complex popular with affluent law school students. My left- and right-door neighbors hated one another. They missed no opportunity for a quarrel. First, it was noise complaints, then parking disputes, and disagreement over trash disposal, and even some boy problems were sprinkled in. The root of the problem was that the girls were too similar, and they were not happy to share their station, their role, in society. They were both very attractive young women going to law school, destined to marry rich, find a good job, and be part of the high society. More importantly, they needed to be the center of attention. These similarities had kindled a friendship in the beginning, but the friendship had faded very quickly and was replaced with deep animosity. They had differences, too. Sarah was from New England. Vicky was from the South. Vicky was blonde. Sarah was brunette. Vicky was a country girl. Sarah was a city girl. Vicky was a gymnast. Sarah did ballet. The differences were mostly superficial, though.

Throughout the year, while the topics of dispute hadn't gotten more serious, the intensity of confrontation had increased significantly. One member even had to pull them from each other's faces to prevent a fight. Despite all of these, there were fake over-the-top pleasantries between the two in periods between their flare-ups. Everyone knew it was fake; they knew everybody knew it was fake, but they kept at it; I guess because that's how people in their role act in society.

On a particularly nice day in February, I, as well as many others, had gone to picnic on a lawn near the complex. Again, at the start of the afternoon, they were warmly conversing. I was not surprised to see them squaring up against each other not an hour later. On one side stood Sarah, a 5'7", a well-endowed brunette with a sultry face in a white cropped tank top and jean short-shorts. On the other side stood Vicky, a green-eyed blonde with a perfect body and angelic face in a floral mid-thigh sundress that let her nipples poke through. While they had come close before, this was the first time they had actually come to blows. People who knew them knew it was a long time coming and saw no point in intervening or stopping them; in fact, they were waiting for this to happen, excited to see who would win this new round of their competition.
