There used to be a bar/club in NewOrleans that sponsored wrestling matches, patrons vs staff...if the customer won, her table drank for free that night...they had a ring , referee, etc...does anyone remember this or have any info?

I think it was called Big Daddy's on Bourbon St. in the French Quarter.

It was actually a hustle...they pretended  to pick a customer out of the crowd to wrestle but she was just another employee. Once in a while the. "customer" won but the bar made out big time selling drinks to the crowd! .my wife tried to get picked three times in a row and then went to ask them why, and they told her the truth! it was fun though.

I went maybe 4 times in probably the very late 80s or possibly 1990 or 1991.  I couldn't remember the name but I think Mag was correct with the "Big Daddy's" comment.  It was on Bourbon St. and it was pretty cheesy and I suspected it was a hustle.  They would have people out on Bourbon Street trying to talk it up and "find"  a challenger.  I don't think there was a cover charge but there was a 2 drink minimum if I remember correctly and drinks were weak and overpriced.  But hey, at the time, not a lot of alternatives if you were a female wrestling/catfighting fan.  I remember at least once and maybe twice, the match fell through with rumors that the challenger was too drunk.  So that does make me wonder if they were all setups.  The challenger in one of them looked pretty intimidating and I think maybe the girl (employee) she was going to face backed out?  Just a guess but there was some arguing between the challenger and her husband with the staff about what appeared to be the claim that she was too intoxicated.

I don't think they have done that for years.  Used to be in the old Gilley's, but I think that ended about 2007.  Or has it started up again?
I love catfights and chatting.  Look me up on trillian at ljack66   (I think... just figuring Trillian out)   https://www.deviantart.com/ljack66

What would have happened if the customer really was a UFC/MMA trainee (like a Ronda Rousey) and would just decimate any bar employee. Would the restaurant still give free drinks to their table ? What if her UFC trainee friends came every night and each night a different woman would then crush any employee ?
