Changing Username

I've been a member since 2010 (God Member).  I'm thinking of changing my username in order to have one common name for a couple sites.  The only way to do this here I believe is to create a new account, correct? I believe I can still keep the old account as well, but I'm thinking of deleting it after I create the new account.  My profile has only basic info (no buddies, no pics etc.) so I think all I would lose is God Member status and any personal messages I've kept, correct?  Also, if I delete the old account, all the postings I've made still remain, right?

If you delete your account all your posts will be deleted with it. But you do not need to make a new account if you want to change your username just let one of us admins know what name you want to use and we can change it for you. That way you save everything. But make sure you have an active email address with us because once your name is changed you will get a email from FCF telling you to reset your password.

Thanks, BigDevil, that's perfect.  I haven't decided yet for sure, but if I do, I will do as you suggest, and my email address is current.  One other question, if I change the username do all my old posts also change to that new name?

I don't think your old posts would change since there is two settings for names one of which only admins can change. If you go under Forum profile and Account Settings  you will see there is a setting called Name
This is the displayed name that people will see. So if you changed your username you would have to change that to make it match if you wanted.

That is what people see on your posts and you can change that at your leisure. I have done that several times. The username that we have to change is for sign on purposes and we also usually had to change it for people to use chat. The chat doesn't like names with spaces (so if you want to use chat consider that if you change your username) The username is what displays in chat also. So if your forum name was The Maine Man chat would still display you as maine516

Short version the forum name you can change at will. Your username we have to change.
