DWW Geoffrey the referee???
« on: March 23, 2011, 08:50:29 PM »
I have a few DWW dvds and Tapes I bought from them in 1998 or so... I often wondered who Geoffrey is, the short referee with the glasses who seems to have refereed almost all the matches.. I know he really did not do all the matches, it just seems that way.   did he have a part in the running of DWW or what??? Any info is helpful....

Thanks
Bill

Goeffrey, or Jeff the Ref as he is better known, comes from a middle-class Midlands (Birmingham) family that has for generations refereed combats between females. It was Geoff's father, Basil, that led Martine Beswick and Aliza Gur out of their wagons in From Russia With Love. The family comittment to their craft is such that once mated at 14 to ensure the family is perpetuated, they become eunuchs, willingly cutting off their balls to ensure they will not become overcome by excitement and will remain fair.
In fact, Geoff is the older brother of Matt, he of the monk's cowl and Ultimate Surrender. And yes, Matt has been nadless for years. He has also been disowned by the proud family for his antics.
Hope this sheds some light on the subject. Cheers.

Haha that was pretty creative.

Seriously though, it does kinda make you wonder who he is since most of us would probably be all horned up in his position.  However, he hasn't purely worked for DWW.  He also reffed some matches for TPC and I believe some festelle matches as well.  Whether this means he had any ownership in any of the companies or just worked for them, I'm not sure.

I fear I must correct the post by your correspondent Butters, who has clearly been led astray by the likes of Wikipedia.
Sir Geoffrey de Reoffrey, to give him his full name, is of old Norman stock. His ancestor Hardi de Reoffrey accompanied William I on his invasion of England in 1066. Indeed, he sent ahead of his archers a "troupeau de catcheuses a seins nus" who taunted Harold's men with cries of "He, Anglais! laisse moi te faire un sciseaux!". Dumbfounded, the English archers failed to react and Hardi's men carried the day.
For this he was raised to the baronetcy (Motto: "arracher". Trans: "snatch") and granted lands to the west of central London. However he tired of England, finding its young women not up to the athletic challenges he was used to and retired to his estates in Normandy from where he and his descendants supplied supple young women to the households of successive popes.
By and large the family has shunned the limelight throught its history. There was one exception during WWI which I was privileged to chronicle in my own modest monograph "De Reoffrey Pulls It Off" (Doubleday 1929).
The present baronet, Sir Geoffrey, divides his time between his estates in London and Central Europe. In keeping with the traditions of his family, he maintains a modest household which consists of several comely and athletic young ladies. This undoubtedly contributes to his affable nature and impeccable good manners.

Momsieur, vous avez offense mon honneur.Je vous defie en duel.
Otherwise, enjoyed your post.

Now made even more so thanks to Butters and Hugh.  :D
