[Glamour Fights]

Babs (played by Barbara Valentin) and Nelly (played by Eva Schauland) had a hairpulling, rolling around catfight in the movie Horrors of Spider Island. Typical of such fights the fight was interrupted without a definite winner. If the fight had continued who would have won?

Here are the fighters as the two women face off against one another. Babs is on the left with the long blonde hair in a blouse and skirt. Nelly is on the right with shorter hair tie up in a bun and a print dress:

Barbara Valentin (Babs):
Born: 15 December, 1940 in Vienna, Austria
Height: ?? (looks to be about 1" to 3" taller than Eva Schauland
Weight: ?? (Would guess about 15 pounds or more heavier than Eva)
Measurements:  41-24-36 (Source: Celebrity Sleuth magazine) (The 41 I could believe. The 24 for the waist and 36 were obviously before Barbara added some padding to her waist and hips.

Eva Schauland (Nelly):
Born: 1935, in Danzig/Gdansk, Freie Stadt [now Gdansk, Poland]
Height: ??
Weight: ??
Measurements:  ? (but smaller breasts than Barbara. Waist and hips are also thinner than Barbara's.)
Horrors of Spider Island was released in April, 1960. So Barbara would have been 19 or 20 years old when the fight was filmed and Eva 24 or 25 years old.

As noted Babs was taller and heavier than Nelly but Nelly made up for this by being nastier, more aggressive and agile. I don't know how strong they were nor their relative strength. Both women had there moments and below are a few video captures from the movie.

Babs,"Take your arm off me or I'll break your arm."

Nelly, "Just you try that, baby. Take this!"

Babs rolls Nelly onto her back and body presses her. She gives Nelly a taste of her own hairpulling:

Now suppose the choking never took place. Instead Babs turns to charge at Nelly as Nelly is getting up. What happens next??

P.S. Here is one more photo. I found it on the web. It shows a scene that I never saw in the fight. It probably was shot as a publicity shot or was in an outtake edited out of the fight. Too bad, it looks interesting. At least it explains how Babs blouse got ripped open. Or maybe it is an indication of what happened as the fight continued.

Loved the video. I wasn't sure who to vote for until I watched the video and then it became clear. At least for a fight between Kelly and Babs. Don't know about a fight between Eva and Barbara. Babs threatens to break Nelly's arm but if anyone's arm gets broken it will be Babs' arm. Nelly is clearly not intimated by Babs and is the aggressor. She even starts the fight Perhaps she thinks Babs is just an overweight cow who can't fight. She is close to the truth. Babs is almost always on the defensive. Even when Babs manages to get on top of Nelly, Nelly still seems to be the aggressor. You can see the look in Nelly's eyes that she can't wait to rip out Babs' hair. Nelly is very good at pulling Babs' hair and using it to control Babs. Babs hardly touches Nelly's hair. I see Babs coming at Nelly as Nelly she getting up. She uses her weight to knock Nelly down. But Nelly quickly uses Babs' hair to turn her over. She continues to yank Babs mercilessly by the hair and slap her silly. Babs starts crying her eyes out as she is unable to match Nelly's ferocity. She pleads for Nelly to stop. But Nelly just gives her that evil grin and doesn't let up. She yanks down Babs top as in the extra photo shown by Glamour Fights. She mauls Babs tits as Babs can only lie there turning her head from side to side as Nelly joyously inflicts as much pain as she can.

 Godamned GF… Still after the tournaments you remain the absolute star of forum . Where in hell you find it? I love this style of catfight. As the actresses were so amateur, they gave a realistic tone in their catfights. But why the directors were so stupid ? And this godamned monste >:(r… what on hell doing there? What an asshole… he could wait the end of fight and after… ate all of them! What a jerk… kill the beast !!!

  I voted Barbara. In the fight for the strap proved that she is stronger. But also that Nelly is dirtier.  Although Nelly looks more flexible and better fighter, I think that when both feel tired, Barbara will use her size and weight and pin the other blond. Nelly will be so exhausted for toppling her. But it took too long to decide. Just because I hate the draw… although this time have the most possibilities…

Ps1 I like the analysis of BYLINE.
Ps2 I would like to see a catfight between the gals in 0:59 sec, in a classic blond vs. brunette. godamned director….

Thanks, Barbosa. I also like byline's analysis. I will give my opinions about who i think would win once the poll is closed. I agree with you that this is my type of catfight fight. As I said before i am not a big fan of the type of female fighting in many movies today with all the martial arts crap. A good amateur slug fest would be OK but I still like the hairpulling, slapping, rolling around to get on top type of fights.

The fight at ):59 is between Kate played by Helma Vandenberg and Gladys played by Norma Townes.  

You can also see them in the background at times with Kate restraining Gladys. It is a nice blonde vs. brunette tussle but I think Kate would dominate Gladys too much to be a good fight.

I purchased the DVD when I read there was a good catfight in the movie. Actually there were several minor skirmishes but the one I had in the poll was the major skirmish. Actually I was hoping for a blonde vs. brunette fight between Barbara Valentine (Babs) and Donna Ulsike (Linda)

They looked very well matched physically, about the same height and both a little overweight with Barbara being perhaps a little pudgier.

As I said, there were quite a few little skirmishes. Nelly  (Eva Schauland} seemed to be involved in quite a few.In the order they happened:

First Gerry Sammer (May) (seated) fights Eva Schauland(Nelly) for posession of a sweater:

Unfortunately this struggle is also interrupted.

Next the signs of animosity between Babs and Nelly shows up when Nelly grabs a black sweater Babs has draped around her shoulders. the two struggle for the sweater which Babs ends up with.

Then Georgia (Helga Franck} slaps  Linda (Donna Ulsike) back and forth across the fight. I think it was because Linda went after Georgia's boyfriend but i have to watch the movie again to check this. Linda doesn't fight back and Georgia walks away. This could also have been a good blonde vs. brunette catfight.

Next Gladys (Norma Townes) tries to drag Nelly (Eva Schauland) to force her to come with her but Nelly resists. No fight occurred, this this little tussle.

Finally came the fight I featured in the poll.

Way to go, Kitana. Nelly will put Babs' hair until Babs' scalp is on fire. Babs' head will resemble a bubble head doll. Then she will start slapping Babs. I doubt if Babs can take much slapping. Sorry, Barbosa, but  Nelly is in much better shape than Babs so if anyone gets worn out it will be Babs. Oh yes, from the other skirmishes it seems like Nelly went around looking for trouble and fights.

I thanked Barbosa but I forgot to thank Glamour Fights for bringing this fight and video to our attention and now with the additional pictures. I don't know any of these women and some are very gorgeous and sexy. I wonder if the DVD is still available? I second Barbosa's and Glamour Fights' thoughts that the damned director and producer ought to let these fights come to an end with a definite winner or at least a fight to exhaustion and both women quit.

Barbara could have prevailed if this was some organized fight but in a straight-forward hairpulling brawl with all the dirty tricks allowed, Eva has the advantage not only due to tying her hair in bun is always a better idea then letting it roll free. The fight could be pretty long and even but Barbara would eventually run ouf of strenght trying to get a grip on her rival's hair and Eva looks like a one vicious nut to crack. She eventually rolls Barbara on her back and pulls her hair long enough to make Barbara submit.

The fight is over and Nelly would fairly convincingly. The fight was close for a long time with both women having and advantage at times. But Babs seem to tire at the end, at least according to the voting, and Nelly started ripping her hair out and slapping her until Babs conceded rather than losing all her hair.

I agree with the voters and with byline's description as echoed by Vassago. I am afraid barbosa credited Babs with too much strength and advantage because of her weight. With except for one instant over the struggle for the strap, Nelly could even have shown she was stronger than Babs. In the video Nelly was clearly the catfighter with her almost constant hairpulling and slaps now and then. When Babs got her down Nelly was able to use Babs' hair and perhaps her greater strength to reverse and put Babs on her back. I think the more aggressive Nelly would have prevailed over Babs had the fight continued.
