Cricket is a game played by GENTLEMEN of the type that once ruled an empire upon which the sun never set and wrote cheery letters home telling their loved ones not to worry about them before going out to face certain death on the battlefield, or in the frozen wastes of Antarctica.
Men of that calibre demand the highest possible standards of behaviour from their womenfolk - dignity, decorum and impeccable manners at all times. At least in public.
Fights between cricketers wives and girlfriends would therefore have to be private, secret affairs, witnessed only by the cricketers themselves and a few trusted friends, none of whom would ever breathe a word about what they had seen to riff-raff like us.
