Use of photographs in posts query
« on: October 09, 2011, 06:02:01 PM »
As this is a non profit making site can somebody please confirm that attaching photos to posts is ok, providing their content does not contravene site rules and that the person attaching them does not claim any credit for photos they do not own. Thanks.

Hopefully someone else can clarify this , like a Moderator who is used to it as I don't know myself , but right now for me , I use Paint to cover up any site Identity & unless it's a Celebrity Story or Poll , I use Fake Names as well , better safe than sorry until you get a clear cut answer , but somebody here should know

Honey, what is your motovation for this post?

I would ask the moderators to look up how many different handles are coming from the same IP address.

I think we might have a troublemaker in our midsts.

But it is a delicate call.

The reason why photographers put a watermark on their photos is to advertise what they are doing. In fact, most of them would be honored that their work is being reproduced in multiple locations. It's the photos without their watermarks being used that would tick them off.

Many times they give the models some of the images they do during the shoot, so the model can promote themselves. Which is what happens here.

This would be a foul if the photographer would complain about their work being used on this site. You just cannot call the police and open up your laptop. This is a civil matter.

And what you suggested, Honey, might shut down 90 percent of the fantasy fights we have on this board.

Then PM a moderator instead of throwing something like this out there for public view.

Sorry to jump on you like that, but you are talking about copyrights, and people don't like to fool around with that stuff.

Thanks for a fabulous answer Queen of Mean.

Let me reiterate to all......... my original question to start the topic was from a innocent perspective. My only agenda was to feel confident (as a new member) to attach pics to a post...end of.

I did not envisage the somewhat aggresive reply from Capital City Catfights, which is not really in keeping with a wonderful site which provides harmless fantasy in the drudge of everyday life.

If Capital City had concerns over my motives then perhaps he too should have quietly alerted a PM rather than give me a public interrrogation!

Anyway, life is too short to argue and the site is for fun not hassle,so this is my last reply on the topic.

Thanks once again Queen of Mean for your time in providing a comprehensive and honest answer without doubting my motives!

We are cool, Honey, and thank you for bringing up this topic. It is an important topic to be discussed on a neutral thread. It was a sockpuppet troll handle that placed it on mine.

I am sorry I reacted that way to a new poster. Welcome and have fun.

My quick take on all this subject might not be correct, but I think it is close.

Let's say I pluck a photo off of Southern Charms of some great looking MILF. This has happened here many times.

What I think is OK is asking if this woman was catfighting another woman, who would win? That is a professional picture released for promotion, you are promoting her by attaching he picture. Doing that with a photo off of flickr with a woman who obviously does not model professionally I think is a little harder to peg, but this woman did place her photo out in a public venue, and since no one had to hack a password to get the image, I think it would be OK to use. If you take a picture of a woman walking in a public area, and do the "would she be a good catfighter" stuff, I still think you are OK unless you can see up her dress, down her shirt or if she is under 18.

Now if you say the pictured woman is yourself, I cannot see how that is OK. It better be you in the photo.

As a producer, my photos are here, on blogs, on other pages, and I have no problem with that. That is promotion. Now if it was pictures of my wife, I would not be crazy about that because she is not part of my website.

And there's the issue with 90% of the profiles here.  It is treading a thin line even to just say "this is my fantasy representation of my identity here" but some outright claim they are the person in the picture.

And what to make of the profiles using the photo and name of a real person, Ewa Sonnet or Nadine Jensen? Truly the mind boggles...
