1970s Sex Symbol Tournament Round 16 Set 1
« on: October 24, 2011, 10:30:51 PM »
{alt} {alt}
BARBI BENTON (Age: 29; 5'3" / 21st 3-12) vs SUSAN ANTON (Age: 29; 5'11" / 10th 11-4)
Tall blonde vs small brunette. Can Barbi Benton turn the odds coming off a very embarrassing loss to Lesley-Anne Down or will this be a walk in the park for Susan Anton who will turn the brunette into a sobbing punchbag?

{alt} {alt}
SONIA BRAGA (Age: 29; 5'2" / 25th 2-13) vs BO DEREK (Age: 23; 5'3" / 5th 15-0)
Two small & flyweight opponents, blonde vs brunette. However Bo Derek is still undefeated while Sonia Braga has struggled to take advantage of her Latin temper. Will this be another painful experience for the Brazilian?

{alt} {alt}
ORNELLA MUTI (Age: 24; 5'6.5" / 12th 10-5) vs LYNDA CARTER (Age: 28; 5'9.5" / 9th 12-3)
First of several close match-ups in this round. Ornella Muti can really show her wild side but Lynda Carter brings strenght and power to catfighting competition. This shapes up to be a very long fight between two brunettes and literally could go either way!

{alt} {alt}
CHRIS NOEL (Age: 38; 5'5" / 11th 11-4) vs MORGAN FAIRCHILD (Age: 29; 5'4" / 8th 13-2)
Blonde vs blonde fight next, Morgan Fairchild is the self-proclaimed most vicious catfighter in the field but Chris Noel has done exceptionally well too. Which of these blondes will conquer the other with some fierce hairpulling, scratching and face-slapping involved? Can Chris upset her younger opponent and scratch her eyes out?

{alt} {alt}
VALERIE LEON (Age: 36; 5'11" / 22nd 3-12) vs PAMELA TIFFIN (Age: 37; 5'7" / 28th 2-13)
The towering brunette Valerie Leon promises to demolish Pamela Tiffin and keep her behind in the standings. Pamela has dyed her hair blonde for this one and believes she can handle the brunette and maul her into submission herself. Will this be a close affair or perhaps a blowout after all? Valerie really thinks she's a better fighter than her record shows and so is Pamela!

{alt} {alt}
SUZY KENDALL (Age: 35; 5'4" / 17th 6-9) vs YUTTE STENSGAARD (Age: 33; 5'6" / 15th 7-8)
Another fight that shapes up to go right down to the wire. Two blondes Suzy Kendall and Yutte Stensgaard try to catch the experts' eyes with their bikini outfits and fight on the grass in free-for-all slugfest-style. Both think they can strip their rival's bikini off and rip some hair in the proccess as well. It should be a vicious and long catfight!

{alt} {alt}
SONDRA LOCKE (Age: 32; 5'4" / 27th 2-13) vs ANNI-FRID LYNGSTAD (Age: 34; 5'7" / 23rd 3-12)
Another couple of women who badly need a victory. Sondra is still livid she hasn't convinced the experts with her dirty tricks while Anni-Frid simply can't stand having a worse record than her bandmate Agnetha Faltskog! This should also be a close fight between a blonde and a redhead!

{alt} {alt}
AGNETHA FALTSKOG (Age: 29; 5'7" / 16th 6-9) vs DEBBIE HARRY (Age: 34; 5'3" / 24th 3-12)
Blonde hairpulling coming up next! Debbie Harry still believes she's the better hairpuller than Morgan Fairchild and doesn't think Agnetha Faltskog will salvage many of her blonde strands after she's done with her! However Agnetha can develop an agressive style if she's forced to and Debbie might be counting her chickens too soon!

Lots of good, competitive fights this time and some real tests for the leaders. I love it when there are lots of close fights. I count seven of the eight fights as being close and the eighth one could also be close.

Barbi Benton vs Susan Anton: Little Barbi Benton is perky and gutsy. She takes the fight to Susan Anton moving in close where she can work over Susan’s firm but tiny stomach and waist.  Susan is at a disadvantage at this close in fighting as she can’t put the power into her longer punches. Some well placed jabs makes Barbi back off a step. This allows Susan to use her longer reach. Still she has trouble putting Barbi away as Barbi’s early assault took it’s toll. Susan gains control as a long upper cut makes Barbi’s knees wobbly. Susan wins but only after a close escape.

Sonia Braga vs Bo Derek: Is spite of the disparage in records this turns out to be a super fight. A sexy sultry brunette and a “10” blonde face off in a wild catfight that can only be so wild with two women who each thinks they are sexier and tougher than the other. Bo Derek is looking for an easy victory over Sonia Braga as Sonia is one of the few smaller women than her. Given the way she has worked over bigger foes this appears to be a walk in the park for her, even more so as Sonia has won only two fights. Both women come out equally aggressive and they are well matched physically. It is a back and forth all out catfight which finally goes in Bo’s favor as she has the greater stamina and outlasts Sonia..

Ornella Muti vs Lynda Carter: I smell a minor upset in this fight. Lynda Carter has a slightly better record than Ornella Muti but only by two fights. Lynda also has the mystic of being “Wonder Woman”. Lynda uses this mystic plus she rises up to her full 5’9” to intimidate Ornella. Ornella is not intimidated. She fights Lynda fairly evenly as they both go to the ground. From there it is a struggle to see who bet get on top and administer the most damage with Lynda’s height now being a slight disadvantage. Lynda concentrates on Ornella’s waist long (or longer) hair while Ornella concentrates more on getting on top and smothering Lynda. Ornella’s strategy is better and she ends up face sitting Lynda who waves her hard weakly in surrender as she passes out.

Chris Noel vs Morgan Fairchild: A even wilder catfight takes place as Morgan Fairchild and Chris Noel than the Sonia Braga / Bo Derek catfight if that is at all possible. It is two blondes going at it rather than brunette / blonde but that doesn’t do anything to lessen the intensity and the desire to rip the opponent to pieces. Morgan thinks she is the nastiest, most vicious catfighter around and wants to prove it. She has a chip on her shoulder as she has lost two fights. Chris has a good record but is seem by some to be more of a grappler and not a vicious catfighter. She needs to dispel this image. So she rushes out and really ties into Morgan’s hair. Morgan is knocked off balance and it takes all her viciousness and hairpulling ability to get back into the fight. Chris comes very close to winning in the closest fight this round. But Morgan’s greater wealth of dirty tricks that she is willing to use makes her finally force Chris to beg for mercy in a very narrow victory.

Valerie Leon vs Pamela Tiffin: This is a fight between two undistinguished fighters. It will not be a fight with a lot of strength, athletic ability nor fighting skills displayed. That doesn’t mean it won’t be an intense and entertaining fight. Ti will be an amateurish fight that many enjoy featuring hairpulling, slapping, and rolling back and forth with legs and arms all tangled up. I think it could go back and forth and either could win, most likely the one who can get the other down and pin her. I pick Pamela to finally due this. Why? Because I think such a fight is in Pamela’s favor as Valerie’s height makes her too gangly and uncoordinated to get Pamela down and keep her there. Once Pamela sits on Valerie’s belly the fight will be over.

Suzy Kendall vs Yutte Stensgaard: One more close fight between two fairly evenly matched blondes. I think Vassago’s prefight analysis is right on the money. Each will take great delight in pulling out more hair and stripping her opponent nude first. I predict Yutte will prevail. She has the slightly better record and she has pulled off some stunning upsets so she knows how to win close fights. Either way, both will be nude and will give us a very entertaining fight.

Sondra Locke vs Anni-Frid Lyngstad: Still another hard fought, close battle. It is presented as a corresponding fight with the Agnetha Faltskog / Debbie Harry fight, at least between Anni-Frid and Agnetha. The intensity is increased also because with 2 wins for Sondra and 3 wins for Anni-Frid, a win can move them further up in the rankings and further away from the bottom. On one wants to be on the bottom ranking. Anni-Frid Lyngstad has the size advantage and I think Sondra Locke has the skill advantage after coaching by Clint Eastwood. Skill pays off and she will tie up Anni-Frid in some punishing, painful hold to get a submission. I like a single legged Boston crab for the finishing hold.

Agnetha Faltskog vs Debbie Harry: As noted, a similar match up as the Sondra Locke / Anni-Frid Lyngstad fight. The biggest difference is that Agnetha Faltskog has shown herself to be a more capable fighter than Debbie Harry. Her size will not be a disadvantage even if Debbie gets her down on the ground as Agnetha has the coordination and athletic ability to make use of her physical superiority to Debbie. Debbie will yank out a lot of hair but Agnetha will crush her into submission between her legs.

Morgan makes short work of Chris, start to finish less than 30 seconds. Most vicious match, Sonia mauls Bo, then kicks her when she is down. The upset match would see Barbie lay a beat down on Susan.

This looks like a good round for the blondes in their matchups with brunettes but the one redhead beats her blonde foe.

Barbi Benton beaten by Susan Anton
Susan has a jolly time nailing Barbi from afar with her super long arms and legs. Once she knocks Barbi down she finished her off with a figure-fore leg lock around her slender neck. An easy win for the blonde Susan over brunette Barbi.

Sonia Braga beaten by Bo Derek
Sonia may have the Latin temperament but hasn’t shown much of it in the previous fights leading us to think she is really a soft sweetie. Bo wastes no time in ripping off her dress and attacking her naked body with her claws.  Blonde Bo ends up sitting on brunette Sonia’s back and ripping her hair out.

Ornella Muti beaten by Lynda Carter
A close fight that helps define what Lynda (Wonder Woman) is made of. She is tested by Ornella and has to call upon all her strength and skills to eke out a victory.

Chris Noel beaten by Morgan Fairchild
Chris mistakenly thinks she can match up with Morgan in a hairpulling, slapping, clawing catfight. She does get a good grip on Morgan’s hair and is able to toss the slender Morgan around for awhile. That is until Morgan’s super sharp nails find Chris’ scalp as well as her hair. Morgan’s claws also find all that skin that Chris has exposed. It is hard to fight when your eyes are filled with tears as Chris soon finds out.

Valerie Leon beaten by Pamela Tiffin
A good fight that is going in Valerie’s favor while they are fighting on their feet. Pamela dives in and lifts Valerie up by her legs and dumps her on her backside. Once on the ground the shorter Pamela has an advantage over the lanky Valerie. She ends up facesitting her for a close win.

Suzy Kendall beats Yutte Stensgaard
A very competitive fight that could go either way. I see Suzy getting in some lucky punches to Yutte’s gut that softens Yutte up. That is enough for Suzy to get Yutte down, wrap her legs around Yutte’s pounded belly and get a submission.

Sondra Locke beaten by Anni-Frid Lyngstad
I think Anni-Frid is a redhead so the redhead wins over the blonde in this fight. Sondra is just too weak and not skilled enough to overcome her lack of strength. Anni-Frid outmuscles her and has her way with her.

Agnetha Faltskog beats Debbie Harry
As in the Locke / Lyngstad fight, Agnetha is just too big and strong for little Debbie. In addition she is the better fighter. Agnetha and Anni-Frid have fun comparing notes about who does what to her victim better.

WOW!!!! For those who haven't voted there are 2 fights dead even, 1 fight with a 1 point difference, 1 fight with a 2 point difference, and two other fights with a 6 and 7 point difference respectively. That is lots of close fights as of this posting. Your vote really makes a difference in quite a few fights for this set.  :) :)

Some new pundits have joined the action and I must say I admire all you folks giving up these detailed comments. Thx very much all of you!

I usually don't give away any opinions on how the fights would or should have ended in my view (unless there's a really big mismatch which can be easily predicted at this stage of the tournament) but here goes (and I did get it wrong on few occassions):

Barbi Benton (55) vs Susan Anton (58)
Well, hardly an upset but Susan was far from blowing away the smaller Barbi as I thought before especially after Barbi had the indignity of being the first girl losing to Lesley-Anne Down in the previous round. Guess Barbi was little bit too quick but lacked core strenght and was unable to smother the taller blonde. The pundits also saw this quite close, only 4-3 advantage for Susan.

Sonia Braga (48) vs Bo Derek (66)
We still wait for Sonia to show up her badass nature and perhaps we must wait until she meets some of the lower ranked women. The undefeated Bo Derek scored a very easy win allthough it was not among the top blowouts. Pundits gave it 4-3 for Sonia though but the upset never happened.

Ornella Muti (57) vs Lynda Carter (55)
First of the ultra-close fights, Ornella Muti lost to Donna Mills before but now eaked out a win against the much stronger Lynda Carter. I liked realisticman's descrition of this fight, but it actually ended the other way around. Looks like Lynda needs to dig out that Wonder Woman costume soon. Pundits gave it 4-2 for Lynda (I went for Ornella).

Chris Noel (49) vs Morgan Fairchild (63)
Morgan's scalp collection is getting bigger with another vicious yanking off at the expense of Chris Noel. All the pundits had Morgan winning another hairpulling slugfest despite Chris' hair being one of the shortest around and in theory more difficult to get a hold of. But it didn't work out against Morgan. Pundits 6-0 rout for Morgan (allthough Glamour Fights has Chris in bold, but his review indicates the other winner! )

Valerie Leon (54) vs Pamela Tiffin (55)
First of three fights on the spin that were decided by a single vote! The allegedly soft Pamela really gave her all and defeated the taller Valerie. I didn't see it happening and in fact the pundits gave 4-2 verdict for Valerie (I also voted for Leon). Guess she ashamed everyone thinking she can't win a fight but this wasn't as impressive as her win over Linda Harrison earlier.

Suzy Kendall (54) vs Yutte Stensgaard (55)
Again, nothing in it but it was Yutte who walked away with Suzy's bikini! Only Glamour Fights has the insight on this one and despite Suzy striking a badass pose, she ended up the loser. It could have ended the other way around and I must admit I voted for Suzy to win.

Sondra Locke (56) vs Anni-Frid Lyngstad (55)
Was Clint looking on? Guess he did and Sondra pulled off somewhat of an upset but then again Anni-Frid seems to be the less skilled than her bandmate Agnetha. The pundits had it 4-2 for the redhead with Glamour Fights (again!!) and badAss sensing the small upset!

Agnetha Faltskog (58) vs Debbie Harry (53)
Debbie is seriously challenging Sonia Braga for the biggest underachiever of the tournament so far. I mean, she's one of the smallest women around but so is Morgan Fairchild who does so much better. Debbie and Sonia talk the talk but don't walk the walk. Pundits gave it 4-2 for Agnetha who now has five wins more than her bandmate Lyngstad. I don't think Anni-Frid likes that one bit!

"Pundits 6-0 rout for Morgan (allthough Glamour Fights has Chris in bold, but his review indicates the other winner! )"

You are correct, I bolded Chris instead of Morgan but my writeup says Morgan wins a close one. It took me a long time to decide how to vote on this one. Originally I was going to vote for Chris but changed my mind at the last instant. I guess my mind was still in favor of Chris when I made her name bold.

Lynda Carter must have had the flu.  That is the only way she loses that fight.
