Alabama is where Clemmy comes from, Ms. Jenn. She was a young Southern girl living on Lonesome Pine, a plantation in Alabama, before the Civil War.

Madame Featherlegs is from Australia, Jersey Jo is from New York City/New Jersey, Lady Gemma is from Cheltenham England/Wales, Tee Poo is from Louisiana, Clemmy is from Alabama, Little Bit is from South Dakota. And they all end up in Deadwood together.

I wish I could come out there for you or even send over a giant mute Albino 'n a bottle of knockout drops if I could ... but I think you're on your own for now, Ms. Jenn! I have faith in ya!

Re Clemmy: yes I got confused, I forgot your Civil War(*) and thought Clemmy was like your character another Lakota and I know they didn't come from Alabama.

Great story by the way and yes I am on my own, but I'll manage especially with the friendship-virtual though it may be - of people like you. Thanks

* your civil war should properly be called the 2nd American Civil War, the first being what you call your War of Independence, surprising fact: more men from New York and New Jersey (and possibly Georgia -the records are not clear)  served in the Loyalist Regiments for King George than served in the revoutionary forces (whether as minute men or in the Continental Army) and many more again served in loyalist militia groups (see Tories Thomas B Allen Harper Collins 2010)

Wow, Joni, coming from you 'n how awesome a writer you are, this really is the best compliment I could ever get! You're the one who gave me that kick in my butt to try to write something for adults for a change!

All I'm doing is telling stories, just like I've been doing for the kids I take care of.....comes with the nanny territory!     'n putting my friends here in these stories about a city 'n a time I love so much. I fell in love with the Deadwood area 'n the Black Hills ever since I moved out here from the other side of the state, the beauty 'n history of the place. I listened to all the stories, the legends, the history 'n all I'm doing is putting us all in the tales! 

Joni, YOU are the one who should be published, your stories here are ALWAYS amazing! In Clockwork Strawberry, you took my lil story about a fight at the Sturgis Rally 'n turned it into a wild adventure full of characters 'n plots I could never dream of. Your other stories, like your series with Gemma, 'n all the other 'one & done' stories all show just how talented you are!

My stuff is like Creative Writing 101, yours is a Master Class!!!
