GLOW and POWW
« on: April 16, 2009, 02:32:46 AM »
This post relates to my earlier one on contrasts and mismatches.

Bikemanrick and CrashCorrigan also had a short exchange about GLOW.  I too loved GLOW, but even more enthralled with its successor, POWW.

I've posted a couple of fictional POWW stories, and they haven't given rise to much discussion, so I'm guessing that there are not many here who share my particular interest.

But anyway, I liked POWW so much because it really played up the helpless jobbers in mismatches.  Paisley, Shannon O'Brien and Liberty were all very young, very pretty, and very well endowed up top.  They appeared to be not only unskilled at wrestling, but unathletic and uncoordinated.  They all had plenty of matches where they didn't even land an offensive blow.  They were like helpless sexpots who didn't belong in the ring, struggling to breathe and stay alive as the more athletic heels absolutely pummelled them.

The two stories I've posted so far are based on real matches.  Paisley did get "cut" by the Terrorist, and her reaction was so extreme that there was speculation that she didn't know it was coming.  Shannon O'Brien did get attacked by a milk crate and a chair, and her leg was injured, although not too seriously.

And, to my delight, I learned via email correspondence with Susan Phelan, who played Liberty, that she and Paisley were heavy smokers at the time.  For Shannon's part, I believe that I found pictures of her doing some smoking and latex fetish modelling work.  In GLOW, I've read that Tara the Southern Belle, Hollywood, Sally the Farmer's Daughter, Babe the Farmer's Daughter, and Vicky Victory were all smokers.

Misty Blue Simmes was an incredibly sexy 1980s girl, with the feathered hair, heavy makeup, leather and other fashions, and a heavy smoker.  Unfortunately, she didn't play a jobber role often.

More recently, Bobbi Billard played Summer in WOW.  She was and is a smoker and has done some smoking fetish stuff.  She also accuses either Ivory or Jackie (I forget which) of intentionally injuring her at WWE's Ohio Valley Wrestling training league when she tried to return to wrestling.

fflint,

Thanks for bringing up our discussion on Glow and POWW.  I'm amazed at how you have e-mailed some of these women.  I'd love to get their perspective on what it was like.  How did you find out about e-mailing them?  Are they on myspace or something?

I loved the two farm girls, Amy or Sally.  I think Trudy was Amy's real name.  I guess I liked the tight jean shorts and the way she filled them out.  The mismatches have always been a real interest of mine.  I also liked to watch Heather Thomas duke it out with other women on The Fall Guy in those ultra-tight jeans.  I think that's the main reason I watched that crazy show.

And of course Ladyfist.com has jobbers like Absynthe (small girl pictured to the left) going up against giant girls like Jade.  It would be interesting finding out what these women are thinking when they do this--if they are lesbians or whatever.  They obviously get turned on by playing either a submissive or dominant role.

Little late , but I too loved GLOW , POWW , & the newest show WOW & as you can tell my my user name & avatar , oh yes , I love the jobbers too . In GLOW , yeah , The Southern Belles were insanely Jobberific Jobbers to go along with the Oh So Helpless Little Fiji & the cutest Jobber to beat up , Little Egypt with Little Egypt & Tara of the Southern Belles leading the pack , based on they lost in singles matches to a girl who usually gets DQ'd for her actions , but not gainst Egypt & Tara . I got to throw this out there though , 1 girl in wanted to see get pinned just ONCE - ONCE , was Susie Spirit , she was so sweet looking buy not a good wrestler , her moves were slow & methodical & even telegraphed as the saying goes , yet she always wound up winning , even when she broke her arm , they couldn't of had her get pinned real quick , the only thing they had was in GLOW Magazine showing Ninotchka do her fold over on her saying " Even the Spicy Susie Spirit has Succumbed to Ninotchka's foldover " OK , WHERE WAS IT IN THE SHOW .

In POWW , I loved Pocohantas , Liberty ( she was really a hapless Jobber ) The Coal Miners Daughter ( Hapless Jobber also ) & probably heading the list with a few others left out was indeed Shannon O'Brien , the 1st Sexy Girl I ever saw involved in a 110% Squash Match as she was devoured with ease by Queen Kong .

In WOW, there were so many , The Beach Patrol , Lotus & Jade , & " Hammered " Heather Steele

Personally, I was OK with POWW.  Their wrestlers ranged from legitimate pros, like Susan Sexton,  Terri Power, etc. to better than average eye candy performers like Magnificent Mimi.  GLOW, on the other hand, was an entirely different story, as far as I was concerned.  I realize that GLOW had, and still has many loyal followers, but for me, other than Queenie, the "wrestlers" looked and performed more like unemployed chorus girls rather than consumate pro wrestlers.  Much like today's WWE stuff.  I couldn't even edit a match to make it look like something worth keeping.  So, I just stopped watching.

That's just my opinion.
