Celeb Fight League
« on: January 06, 2014, 06:39:02 AM »
http://celebfightleague.blogspot.com/

I've made a few posts in another thread about a site I just started that's similar to the now defunct CFA and celebscatrank, but I figured it should have it's own thread. So far I only have some basic profile pages for the fighters (those who have received 10 or more evaluations have stats added), but the first batch of match polls should be ready to go soon. I'll be writing short stories to go along with the results of the polls.

These girls are still in need of a couple of evaluations to get to ten, so if you want to help out...

Here are the match ups I'm thinking of for the first "fight night", but suggestions are welcomed:
     Emma Stone vs Kristen Stewart
     Emma Watson vs Miley Cyrus
     Jennifer Lawrence vs Jessica Alba
     Kaley Cuoco vs Katy Perry
     Mila Kunis vs Olivia Munn
     Olivia Wilde vs Scarlett Johansson
     Natalie Portman vs Zoe Saldana

I will be adding more girls to the roster over time (there were quite a few I glossed over just because I wanted to get started), but am open to suggestions.

Also, I have 0 graphic design skills, so don't expect anything fancy like the previous sites had; unless someone wants to help out with that.

I think that's all for now, so go rate the ladies and I'll have more soon.

Good stuff! Will the fights be more along the lines of pro wrestling, or catfighting? (Personally I prefer the latter, but to each their own!)

Most likely the latter; they'll probably have a lot wrestling moves, but there won't be too many 'rules' to get in the way of the fight. Also, no three-count, win by submission or KO.

How will the stats affect the matches? What's your plan after polling is done? I'm curious so sorry for the questions.

Right now I'm thinking of averaging the 7 stats to get an "overall" rating, then use a spread system similar to sports betting. So if a girl with a 7.1 overall rating fights a girl with a 7.5 overall rating, she would need to cover a 0.4 spread in the poll to win the fight.

Creator of both CFA and CCE here ;)

Kinda glad to see this, I hope you keep at it, maybe your standards for participation are lower than mine and maybe you do not put so much effort into it that you get discouraged by low participation...
I couldn't get the motivation needed to keep those sites running due to lack of participation from the community.

I would get maybe 40-60 polls done for the more well known girls, out of which 20% are troll polls, all 10's or all 1's, depending if they want that specific girl to be rated lower or higher.
The rest of the troll polls were usually one person using methods to trick the survey into letting him vote several times, and voting 10 times straight for the same girl, usually giving very high or low unrealistic scores.

For the lesser known celebs i would get maybe 20 polls done, again with 1/4 of them being trolls. I would have to sit and go through each one, deleting the troll polls and keeping the real ones.

It became tedious and frustrating. People were not contributing to the overall success of the project, just trolling. Some people were really putting effort, describing in detail why they rated each girl the way they did and everything, which was awesome.

But overall, doing this whole thing for 30 people was pretty discouraging and honestly not worth my time.

I'm still pretty upset about it as u can see, I really wanted it to succeed but I guess there is not enough interest?
I also asked several times if people were interested in helping with the project, writing stories etc...got nothing.

When I stopped updating the websites I got maybe 6-8 people asking why or showing they even care....

So yeah...I wish it didn't have to end that way. I'm still dying to revive those things but I don't see anything being different...

/end rant.

Yeah, I figured thats why you stopped. Sucks. Hopefully I won't lose the motivation to keep it updated...

Anyway, the polls the first Fight Night are up:

Some suggestions and improvements that will be implemented for the next round of Fight Night polls:
  • pre-fight commentary
  • fighter stats under their pics
  • an option to choose how the fight ends in the poll (possibly an option for type of match)

I'm going to leave the fight polls up until Friday, and will have some new additions to roster in the next couple of days. There's also a poll on the sidebar of the site for suggesting girls you want to see added and matches you'd like to see.

Badly missing Avril Lavigne, Hayley Williams and Victoria Justice in the roster! :)

Also, im missing some kind of stamina/endurance attribute that represents how much damage a girl can take and still keep fighting. Did you mean for defensive ability to represent that?

Lastly, you said match results are going to be determined by comparing the ratio between how many more votes a girl gets and the difference in stats. I think that makes it pretty much guaranteed that the girl with higher stats is always going to win as she is going to get more votes anyway! (Unless you dont filter out troll votes).

I don't really have a better suggestion but just think this method would make it pretty impossible for any "upsets" to happen.
