Catfight Mt Rushmore
« on: June 08, 2014, 06:58:17 PM »
On numerous sports talk shows, a hot topic is building a theoretical Mt Rushmore devoted to different sports teams. For instance, I listened to a station out of Pittsburgh debate who should go on a Steelers' themed Mt Rushmore (popular choice were Art Rooney, Chuck Noll, Terry Bradshaw, Mean Joe Greene). This got me thinking (I have a long work commute and get a lot of time to think on obscure topics). If we built a Mt Rushmore type monument dedicated to important people in the genre of catfighting, who would it be? The 4 I picked were:

Alex Bettinger- He took the art of catfight production and storytelling to a new level.
Hollywood- A great performer and important producer.
Paris Kennedy- An even better performer and also an important producer.
Tanya Danielle- A beautiful and prolific performer, who had a long reign at or near the top of her profession.

I realize none of these are very competitive catfighters. I wanted to include Karine or Jenn or Mutiny but I wasn't sure if they had a lengthy enough career to be considered.

What 4 would you pick and why? I realize that some of you will hate my selections and that's ok.

Tori Sinclair--hands down the bitchiest voice and expressions in catfighting.

Dia Zerva--seems to get genuinely turned on as a fight progresses.

Ariel X--unbeatable fighter.

Sable--total bitch to other women.

It really depends on what you are looking for and what you like the most.

Renee from Catfight Haven
The founder of Crystal Films
Gunter from DWW
Barb from Barb's old catfight message board could be in as well.
Joan Wise

Take four out of those five, and I think you have a great group.

I'd go along with Hollywood, Tori Sinclair and Paris Kennedy. I might add Kim & Ginny for the incredible job they did on their old website. Lots of good candidates, really.

I know there are not 2 Mount Rushmores in real life, but it feels like there are two different groups to consider here, Particiapnts and Promoters/Contributors.   I think either conversation is interesting, but it becomes way too messy to combine the two.    In either case, longevity is a prerequisite, so nobody fairly recent can qualify.

For Participants, I'd pick Venus D., Christine D., Nadege and Hollywood.

For Promoters/Contributors, I'd go with Joan Wise, Gunter, Alex Bettinger and Barb from the old Combative Woman Site.

Note that both Hollywood and Joan Wise could make an appearance on the other list as well.  If you had to make a combined list, they would make it because of their influence on both sides of the camera.   A similar argument could be made for Robin (Susie) Johnson, as well as Ana from APL and Renee from Catfight Haven.   I think if you go for a single list, it is those who have been on both sides of the camera and have significant careers on both sides that make it.    They must be both recognizable and influencial.

I get email tips when this board does something that people think might be of interest to me. And I just did. We used to do questions like this on the old xxxxxxxS message board. Fond memories!

I would say combative women who also owned companies producing material and had a pioneering role in popularizing recreational wrestling through video. There are many today (good ones) but these first four are the godmothers.  :)

Judell Dulong -- She launched the "she" producer era. She once told me that my site was the only one about wrestling she visited. What a sweet thing to say! Supportive sister to the max!

Joan Wise -- Took female production into the modern period...pioneer's pioneer!

Tricia Brown -- Raised production values and vid story quality to another level with California Wildcats and gave lots of work and exposure to combative sisters! Unbelievable career! Untimely death. Really nice person.

Suzi Robin Johnson -- really diversified content variety, great wrestler and excellent businesswoman

Honorable Mention:

Renee from Catfight Haven -- she's an amazing person in so many ways and does real good, varied content

And my budski Helen Van Mott (much luv Jess!) -- the best recreational wrestler of her time (I think), just plain brilliant intellect, and she did some good vid work.

I love you guys for putting me on the mountain but I just wouldn't know what make-up to use -- what face foundation works for granite? And I would often giggle when I wrestled -- hardly the right image! LOL Nah...not Aunt Barbara! :)

Fun thread! Brings back good memories. Thanks all. xoxox

Barbara

I really miss two sites on the internet ... Kim & Ginny's board and of course xxxxxxxS.

Great to hear from a legend ...

//Braveheart

Ditto. They were 2 of my first favorite catfight websites.

An "Old Schoiol" Addition!

I am really enjoying this thread.  I have an "Old School" suggestion about some people I would like to add, but first:

Being the enthusiastic Renee and Catfight Haven fan that I am, I would of course pick Renee on both sides of the Camera.

For many years, Barb's Site xxxxxxxS was the first place I would visit every day and I miss it very much!  THANKS BARB!  You provided a wonderful forum at a time when it was needed!  It was a chance for men and women to have the kind of dialog that is now taken for granted!   Good to hear from you.

Now that THAT is out of the way, here is my "Old School" suggestion:

During and even a bit before in some cases,  Judell and Joan Wise,  there was "Millie's Gym"!  "Millie" was of course Mildred Burke,  The "John L. Sullivan" of Women's Pro Wrestling!

I learned about Millie's Gym from a group of Videos, "Something Weird Video" which had a series, Wrasslin She-Babes which featured several of the "Old School" loops.  Okay, maybe the quality was not the best but these old Black and White Clips are FUN!  Millie's Gym featured several young wrestlers, at least young at the time!  Pioneers such as Cheryl Day, Casey Carr, Roslyn Royce, and the very popular Spice Williams!

Some of the matches were standard swimsuit/ leotard but other matches were topless or even less!  Rosilyn Royce became "Goldie", one of the founders and producers of " Golden Girls" and she and Spice were the two main stars along with Belinda Belle (later the Face of Steel Kittens), Sue Bowser, Shelly the Burbank Bomber, and so many others!  As I said, the quality of these early videos may not have been so great but the LEGACY was awesome!

We could even go back to Betty Paige/Irving Klaw (Surprised that nobody mentioned them) even though the wrestling and catfighting may not have been real, it attracted attention and interest   I think it even gave this now larger market its start but that might be a separate post for another thread!

I take my hat off to all of the people who posted, and take my hat off to all of the lovely ladies mentioned!

I enjoy talking about "the sport" in all of it's varied and wonderful forms ranging from scripted to competitive to MMA!!!
