Boxing game
« on: August 25, 2014, 12:40:47 AM »
I wasn't sure exactly where to post this, so the general category it is...

I came across a recently created boxing game.  For those familiar with the Wrestle Angels video games, this has a similar look to it.

You can download the game here (use the link at the top):

There is an English translation for the game, along with install instructions posted by Alamarus over on DA (check the Scraps folder in his gallery):

Another user pointed out that the links in my original post no longer work.  So, I found some updated links:

Here's the link to the artists pixiv page: http://blog.livedoor.jp/hardboiledcat/archives/41086200.html

Here's the link to his page regarding the game: http://blog-imgs-60.fc2.com/s/o/k/soketpocket/boxermakers.htm

The very first link on that page will take you to the creator's Google Drive, where you download a copy of the game.  BTW, the game has been updated since my original post.

Also, there is now a second boxing game in development from a different developer.  No downloadable version yet, but there have been occasional updates on the developer's blog, including pictures: http://blog.livedoor.jp/hardboiledcat/archives/41086200.html

To get the English translation of v1.00 of the Boxermaker game, I think you can go straight here: http://alamarus.deviantart.com/art/Boxermaker-2014-Ver-1-00e-489089979

If that doesn't work, use the DA link from my first post, then click on Gallery at the top of the page.  Then, click Scraps on the left hand side of the screen and look for the post titled "Boxermaker 2014 Ver:1.00e."

A newer version of the game is available from the original developer (I believe he's calling it version 2.0).  You can download that via his blog at http://blog-imgs-60.fc2.com/s/o/k/soketpocket/boxermakers.htm.  No English translation of version 2.0 is available at this time, but that same DA user is currently working on it.

Just FYI... the biggest change in version 2.0 is that there are additional characters available.

I don't think I did anything special to get the game to run, but that's probably because my machine was already configured to handle the Japanese character set.  To add Japanese character support to Windows 8, follow the instructions for adding a language here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/using-multiple-languages.  Note that you only need to use the steps for adding a language.  You shouldn't need to download anything, as Japanese character support is native in windows.  And you DEFINITELY don't want to follow the steps for setting a new primary language.  That would be bad. :P
