4. Diana Dors vs Elizabeth Taylor
5. Gina Lollobrigida vs Kim Novak
1. Marilyn and Bettie have already met in this tournament. Marilyn won 29-25, a bit of a surprise to me.
2. Joan and Angie have also met. Angie won a squeaker 36-35
3. Sophia Loren will fight Mamie van Doren in round 21
4. Diana Dors will fight Elizabeth Taylor in round 28, towards the end of the tournament
5. Gina Lollobrigida will fight Kim Novak in round 8 (we are on round 5 right now).
I just got done making up the entire schedule for all 31 rounds. Normally I sed the players based on the votes received initially in the selection process so that the highest vote getters will face each other in the later rounds. Hopefully they will have done well and so these fights will determine the winner. The schedule then falls naturally out of the seedings. But I bent to pressure early on and scheduled some popular fights out of order. This made a nightmare for me in then trying to adjust the following fights to ensure that:
1. every fighter fought every other fighter;
2. no fights were repeated; and
3. every fighter participated in every round.
Having figured the schedule out I am not going to change it. There are many great fights coming up and I hope the ones in the last round will be some of the best. Of course the voters don't follow the seedings and there are many 'upsets' along the way compared to the original popularity of the fighters. Maybe the tournament is too long for some but I like tournaments where everyone meets everyone else. And it was tough enough picking 32 fighters out of the many sex symbols of the 50s (and later on 60s) to limit them to less than that.
Note: if people think this tournament is too long then we could have one more elimination round for the 1960s Sex Symbols Tournament to 16 but I already feel that some very sexy and great fighters won't make the list of 32.
