In my opinion, North America is ahead of other countries in female MMA, but lags in other female combat sports, for sure compared to Europe. We're getting there, but some of the mainstream combat sports are not as high profiled here as in Europe and perhaps Asia (Japan anyway). I'm thinking of wrestling, judo, boxing and a few other combat sports that we hardly see here. We have the Fight Network here in Canada and they sometimes show the World Combat Sports tournaments that include both men and women. I don't think the the US or Canada are even represented. Lots of scandinavian countries are represented (Holland, Switzerland, Norway, etc.), as are Russia, Bulgaria, Japan, Brazil, etc. and they have very talented women representing them. This is only one example. But I tend to agree with what that female fighter said. My opinion only...
