It does seem that ECC makes a good number of “promises” that never quite come to fruition. And I have no problem with that, it’s called “marketing” and the intention is to keep interest in the product.
Actually, ECC has been remarkably consistent in releasing 9 or 10 fights a year for many years. You just have to be happy with that and I see no reason why you wouldn’t be. Back when I bought ECC (more about that later) I never once felt cheated and that’s a huge compliment for this industry!
The one thing that confuses me about ECC is that they killed off their own Yahoo group. It still has over 6000 members, and that’s potential customers, but absolutely no action. It used to be a lively place with good discussion, but since ECC owned it, any negative post about the product got killed before it reached the board. Therefore, no action, no discussion, no controversy, no heat. That’s a shame because it could have been a great tool to market the product. Look at it this way. Even this little thread with some back and forth is good for ECC.
As for me, I like the ECC idea and execution a great deal. In the past I’ve bought a bunch. And I will again the minute they go to HD. But in the meantime I’m spending my hard earned dollars on SF, CR and others who have HD with huge pics that just pop off the screen.
I might be wrong on this, but I think ECC has promised HD in the future. We will see.
