Before I became a producer I was catfight fan for many years just like you guys. As a fan, one of the things that use to really irritate their hell out of me was those exciting catfight DVDs that turned out to be less than real as promised in the website vendors literature. It's all too easy to be taken in by sexy images that promised so much and delivered so little.
So how do you spot the signs?
A good way of spotting whether a catfight DVD/clip is going to prove less than authentic is to take time when studying the images. Pics can tell you so much about a fight DVD/ clip. If the company is claiming to be genuine, then in the fight pics, there should be facial expressions that cannot be faked, contortions to the body caused by violent movement, and of course read marks/scratches. Take a look at the image below. Observe both the motion and the red marks –

Fantasy can very often be more exciting than reality. With real, you must be prepared to except some imperfections.
Now speaking as a producer, I prefer to film my fights in such a way as the fan can imagine he/she is there, watching the fight live.
