Yes, women really were sexier in the 1960’s. This cult classic features the baddest go-go girls on the planet. Early in the film, we’re treated to a desert catfight between blonde Billie (played by super sexy Lori Williams) and the exotic, dark haired Rosie (played by Haji, that’s right only one name. Okay, her real name is Barbarella. No really, you can’t make shit like that up.) Both of these bombshells ooze sex from every pore as they duke it out in the hot California sand.
Their ringleader is Varla (played by a nasty and campy Tura Satana). Varla likes to beat up grown men with her bare hands, so there’s a lot here for all you mixed fight fans. I wasn’t even in grade school when this came out, but Playboy TV has been showing it on “Mondo Mondays”. I was able to watch it in glorious black and white with guidance from an ample bosomed hostess. Somewhere Russ Meyer is smiling.
Here in the 21st Century, and on DVD is Female Fight Club #7, featuring two of the catfight biz most popular stars. Tall and lovely Hollywood takes on sultry Francesca in a brutal all out battle. One thing I love about this fight is a lucky male observer gets to watch and shout encouragement from the sidelines. I’ve never quite understood having two gorgeous women beating the crap out of each other with no one to witness it. Almost like that “if a tree falls in the forest” litmus test. Great fight.
