As an expat of a former satellite state, I can confirm, that one of the first free reports in the sports section on TV in the early '90s was a mud wrestling competition, so Ukraine still allowing this today doesn't surprise least one bit, bear in mind it's within the context of a social system where it's common to talk down to women as if they're children in need of aid.
