short excerpt from wikipedia ('cause they can explain it better than I) :
" VK (short for its original name VKontakte; Russian:

?, meaning InContact) is a Russian online social media and social networking service based in Saint Petersburg. VK is available in several languages but it is especially used by Russian-speakers. VK allows users to message each other publicly or privately, to create groups, public pages and events, share and tag images, audio and video, and to play browser-based games. "
I've had a VK account for a few years now and was looking at it as a possible holding place for the gigs of cat fight-related stuff I've accumulated over the years but held off until I was completely comfortable with it. Probably a good decision as I've noticed a lot of accounts getting blocked and/or shut down for a variety of reasons...copyright infringement/pornography/whatever....and there is no indication of how to retrieve your posted material after that happens. That would be most awkward. That said, there is still an awful lot of material being shared on the website and it can be worthwhile to drop in every now and then to review what's new.
