Pardon my ignorance but why do cities shut these private wrestling events down?
I think it was just an overly cautious community at the time and I seriously doubt it would get shut down today. Times were a tad different then as the internet was still pretty new. The company that put it on was Jackpin Productions, long gone now. They held the first two conventions in San Diego in 1999 and 2000. I think the West Covina Show was in 2001. Perhaps they thought being closer to LA would boost the attendance. It's sort of funny when you think that in 2001 they shut something like this down but wouldn't today, but if I guy came up and pinched your butt in 2001, we either thought he was a jerk or were flattered, but today you can get arrested for that. That appears a little backwards to me when you think about it. Some of you may not know this, but back in the early 1980's, Judell Dulong's California Amazon actually had an undercover cop come to wrestle for her to see if they were breaking any laws and Judell Dulong NEVER did nudity in her videos. BTW, that undercover cop went by the name Donnie Dayton and was actually in two of Judell Dulongs videos. You can see them on our FemaleFightFlix.com streaming site through the end of June.
Thanks for the tip. I'll definitely be using your current promotion to check out a video of Donnie. The thought of an undercover female cop infiltrating an underground women's wrestling ring would have made a good catfight film scenario. Knowing that the story actually happened makes it more exciting!
