Baby Bump Battle

Every Wednesday morning, at exactly 10:03 a.m. (because 10:00 felt "too aggressive"), the prenatal yoga class gathered in a lavender-scented studio above a bakery that specialized in existential croissants.

Emily and Hannah always arrived at the same time.

They always smiled politely.

They always chose mats on opposite sides of the room.

And they always--*always*--felt it.

A faint but undeniable... tension.

Not between them.

Between **the bumps**.

Emily would be halfway into a gentle stretch when her stomach would suddenly *nudge* outward like it was trying to square up. Meanwhile, Hannah's bump would respond with a firm, indignant shift--less a kick, more a *statement*.

Today was different.

Today, both bumps were in a mood.

A *foul* one.

"Let's begin with breathing," said the instructor, a woman named Celeste who claimed she could "hear emotions in elbows."

Everyone inhaled.

Everyone exhaled.

Emily's bump did neither.

Instead, it **pushed**.

A sharp, unmistakable *thump* against the inside of her belly.

"Oh!" Emily yelped.

Across the room, Hannah froze.

"...Did yours just--"

"Yes."

At that exact moment, Hannah's bump responded with what could only be described as a **counter-thump**.

Not random.

Not accidental.

Deliberate.

Celeste clapped softly. "Beautiful energy today--"

*THUMP.*

*THUMP.*

The class fell silent.

The bumps... were communicating.

No--worse.

They were **arguing**.

Emily's stomach shifted left, then right, like someone pacing inside a tiny, womb-sized war room.

Hannah's bump rolled forward in what was unmistakably a challenge.

"Oh no," Hannah whispered. "She's doing the thing."

"What thing?" Emily asked nervously.

"She only does this when she's... gearing up."

"Gearing up for *what*?"

Before Hannah could answer--

*DOUBLE THUMP.*

Both women gasped as their bumps pressed outward at the exact same time... directly facing each other across the studio.

The air crackled.

A yoga ball slowly rolled away on its own, as if sensing danger.

Celeste blinked. "I'm going to... open a window."

And then it happened.

Emily took one cautious step forward.

Not by choice.

Her bump leaned.

Hannah shuffled forward too--again, not voluntarily.

"Oh no," Emily said. "I think she's steering."

"I'm not in control either," Hannah replied. "This feels... organized."

Step by step, guided by forces far too tiny to be this determined, the two women were drawn together until--

*boop.*

Belly met belly.

The room held its breath.

For one brief, hopeful second... nothing happened.

Then--

*BOOP.*

A stronger push.

Followed by a rapid-fire series of tiny internal kicks that translated into visible, ridiculous external jostling.

*boopboopboopboop.*

"They're fighting!" someone whispered.

Celeste, now halfway out the window, called, "Remember your breathing!! Or... don't!! I've never trained for this!!"

Emily and Hannah locked eyes.

"This is insane," Emily said.

"Completely," Hannah agreed.

*BOOP.*

Their bumps collided again--this time with enough enthusiasm to make both women wobble backward like confused penguins.

And then...

Silence.

Stillness.

A final, decisive... *tiny thump* from each side.

The tension vanished.

Just like that.

Emily blinked. "Is it over?"

Hannah tilted her head, waiting.

No movement.

No attitude.

Just... calm.

"...I think so," she said.

From somewhere deep inside, both babies seemed to settle--as if an unspoken agreement had been reached.

A truce.

Or perhaps...

A promise.

Because as Emily and Hannah carefully returned to their mats, a strange, shared thought crossed their minds:

*This isn't finished.*

Across the room, Celeste slowly closed the window.

"...Next week," she said cautiously, "we're doing meditation."

No one argued.

But in the quiet stillness of the studio, two very small future rivals rested...

Gathering strength.

And on the third day Youngbritishbitch created the seas by making all the non british girls cry and the other british girls cry harder.

How very intriguing, can't help wondering where you'll take this

Wow! That was really something. Will the moms-to-be engage in a belly-to-belly fight? May the best belly (and best baby) win!

This was very interesting and hope this continues

See where the next chapter brings us at for the mom's and daughter's

Mother Daughter Duo

A very interesting and sexy concept. Love to see where this goes? More belly bumps and a future setting that involves the daughters and mothers together. Eager to see where this goes  ;)

This is definitely my idea of an exciting story.

When my step-daughter was expecting her first child, she told her mum and I about an incident that occurred at her ante-natal class.
Two heavily pregnant women came into the classroom arguing, with one woman accusing the other of jumping into the car parking space that she was about to reverse into. The other woman denied this saying that she was already waiting for the space and had been there first.
The arguing/bickering continued as the women removed their tracksuit tops thereby exposing their swollen bellies, and the two women closed the gap between them, still arguing, until their bellies properly pressed against each other and they clashed hands as they pointed their fingers accusingly at each other.
My step-daughter and a couple of other women at the class stepped in and separated the women and apart from some simmering tension each week at the class until one of the women gave birth, nothing else happened.
I thought I'd share this after reading the above story
